Ok I heard the Hughes show, no problem. You have to understand Richard, he has a passion for what he does and agree or disagree with him I have a lot of respect for that, everything else to him is simply not relevant, I get it.

Art

You're right Art. My apologies. He has introduced me to topics I knew nothing about. True.

... Barbara is great. So many great moments with her. I love how tickled she was when Art asked if she and Brendon were a couple, way back when they were new to C2C.

Heh, a couple of what?

Very diplomatically put! Those not so diplomatic would say he realises when he's being caught out and is about to hang by his own petard if he goes down the path the interviewer wants to go. As long as he (and others) can depend on the (mainly) soft touch he'll thrive and peddle his pseudo science based on spurious and in many cases totally fabricated rubbish. Apartments on Mars? Glass domes on the Moon? Elenin a space ship decoy? Really?

Passion? Only insofar as he can get enough gullible souls to buy his latest snake oil recipe. Respect? He has absolutely no scientific credentials, none, yet has the temerity to deflect any criticism (as does Bara) by trying to insult real scientists. In Bara's case he's vile.

Queen

I still think Alice Cooper would be a great guest!

Agreed. Great interviewee. Very intelligent and truly a gentleman.

... I think he wormed his way into this unsuspecting group of non-profit ghost investigators, in hopes to make their work into a TV reality show.
That sounds about right.  What better way for a self-promoter to get a "jump start" on a reality show than to take up with a group that already has a name and some degree of respect...

Who, why? ;)

And he can be entertaining.  I will have to look for a link to this Hughes show to listen.  I would be surprised if he strayed far from coast this time- but we will see.  He makes for good radio (with the right interviewer), and the two of you seem to have "chemistry" (if not astrophysics.) ;)

I haven't heard the Hughes show yet, but I agree fully with Art. Hoagland's level of passion is rare. It makes him a lot of fun to listen to.

Thats what I mean when I say two minds. He is entertaining but I wonder about the science. I'm not too worried about qualifications look at Childers. But there is a lot of BS. I guess if you can sift the bs from truth......I wont condemn the guy, he is an old staple if you know what I mean. Just downloaded the hughes show, it'll give me something to listen to tonite

"Check on no Chunga" has a great rythm... a nice line in the Bellgab cha-cha-cha!

Whenever Hoagland is on I always time how long he can go without actually saying anything. He's closing in on 3 minutes now.

Next time he is on I think we should all take bets on his longest....at least it would be something to listen for.

Was that mean?

lol

Mean no, accurate yes. I bet 10 bucks he never says anything verifiable the entire time he is on.

Well Art, you are far more forgiving than I would be. Sure he has passion, but after listening to him all these years, I find that I would have been ahead flossing my teeth instead. The theatrical BS, the never getting to the point (if ever) until he is darn good and ready, the holier than thou attitude just doesnt play for me. The main issue I have with him is that at some level, be has to know he is peddling pure BS. Loved the catbox comment.

The beauty of Hoagland is not in his content, but his hair. I defy any of you to have a coif this nice.

Hey Gabbers. I made a 12 question quiz about Art Bell. It's not super easy, or hard, just tried to make it kind of fun. :)
Enjoy. https://www.playbuzz.com/pathojenj10/how-well-do-you-know-art-bell

Art, it never occurred to me that Hoagland might believe the stuff he says - I just assumed he does it for attention, and to a leser extent to sell books

Do you think he seriously believes it?

Are you kidding? Of course he believes it, that's not to say I agree with him. Once in a while I do but what many of you don't know is Richard has very little money and the reason is that he spends all his energy into getting what he thinks is true out there. Again I respect his passion.

Hi Jen!  That was a fun quiz.  I got 9 out of 12.   Thanks!

won't spoil anything, but there was one question I was unaware of and the answer might be the most disgusting thing ever imagined if it happened to you.

I don't buy Hoagland's theories, but the fact is he's fun to listen to with Art. Elsewhere, not so much, but his dynamic with Art is entertaining.

PathoJen

Art, take the quiz, I want to know how well you know yourself. :)
This is a different quiz, I just put it together, it's not the "which guest are you".

I have always liked hoagland's ability for the fantastical. To this day I am quite disappointed that the face on Mars isn't a message from "out there"; I suppose that is part of the reason it is harder to give him any credibility... shame

I live next to the Smithsonian Observatory at Mt. Whipple here in So. AZ...also, close to one of the largest facilitties in N. America, Kitt Peak.  You can rent them out (not that much mind you) and observe the moon if you want to! Can't someone just do that and point to the places on the moon that are suppose to have "structures"? According to Lear some of them are large enough to cover craters for pete's sake...you should be able to see them from a good Earth telescope...
