You are missing the POINT.
Do to my unparaleled influence and respect, i alone have the power to bring this issue
to a sucesful conclusion.  I am really really smart and very well respected by all those involved
in this unfortunate situation.  You can post your thoughts all you want on a public board, but I
am the ONLY ONE who has the influence on the players to make it happen.

Have a seat(s) Bellgab, bobo has spoken.

ACE of CLUBS

Art was right about one thing ....... 'George get's it'
Whether by accident or not ... it doesn't really matter, George now has a show that appeals to a larger cross-section of listeners.
He's branched out into other subjects .... has variety, good week-end hosts, and has actually improved his own presentation a little bit.

Art sounded bored the last month and a half he was on.  Maybe he realized he's old, para-normal is old, guest/experts are old, and the audience is old .... no room to grow.

Yes, Art was right after all ...... 'George get's it'

Art ...... please don't embarrass yourself further ...... I enjoyed you immensely when you were 'new' .... and para-normal was 'new' .....
Now, I just feel badly that you've sunk to trolling a site like this one ....

Bingo! The iHeart Classic Rock format was made with Auditorium Surveys based on song recognition. The results are an anemic playlist of about 300 rocks songs, that while they are not bad songs will leave those that lived the Classic Rock era bored after a couple days of listening. You can tell summer is coming not just by the buds on the trees but by the fact they are amping up the arena rock in the playlist. (Boston, Foreigner, etc.)   The demographics shift the center (the middle of the bell curve based on the songs' years of release).  The conglomerates in general dont really care about the 54 plus age group, and it shows in the fact that they dont play much from the 60s other than a handful of Beatles and Stones songs.  The community based stations idea could change all this. In major markets you could end up with several target demographics.

I'm someone who grew up with a radio playing pretty much 24/7...AM/FM/SW, I loved radio.  Since the conglomerates took over the airwaves, I've listened less and less and I rarely listen to commercial radio today.  20+ minutes/hr of ads, the same hits looped on repeat, formulaic, homogenized programming, and angry ranting talk radio hosts have destroyed what once was a powerful information and entertainment medium.

Local, non-profit community radio (typically run by volunteers) is increasingly offering some of the quality and niche programming long gone from commercial radio.  Radio isn't dead, it's returning to its roots.

We have a commercial free station here in Tucson...runs from around 7am to 5:30pm daily...oldies and classic rock...I always have it on at home...I'm not sure how they do it, but zero commercials and the signal is pretty strong...

Is one of your chat up lines in the hotel bar along the lines of you knowing the wheelers and dealers of the world? And as her/his eyes glaze over with chronic boredom you make your move and impress them with balancing a spoon on your nose? I bet after that, their knickers slide off like teflon eh?

Commercial free stations are run by non-profits such as colleges, churches, or low power community groups.  The overhead is low as the staff are volunteers, and expenses are covered through donations.

Wow...it is really cool to have it! Sure, it's not on at night, but it's great when I'm working around the house on the weekends...

well it seems my local fave isn't quite an iheart station from what i can tell..which is good..but they do still have the same sort of formula..same bands over and over..not so many deeper tracks...for instance...they have a lil 3 shot nightly called Get The Led Out..3 Zeppelin songs in a row..but its rarely anything deeper than say i dunno Bron-Y-Aur Stomp..i keep trying to get the guy to play Achilles but it never gets played but a Kashmir will..so its not..length is the issue lol

No offense YP, but do you think a person of their intellect would know what knickers are? Lol!

The history of "low power" community radio is fascinating.  It was truly a grass-roots movement, and one of the few instances where the people prevailed over the corporations.

When I was a DJ at a classic rock station owned by Clear Channel in Maine I could play all the Zep and Pink Floyd (yawn) they could throw at me but could NOT play Helter Skelter, Oh! Darling or Come Together by The Beatles. Used to just piss me right off, the same shit, day after day....
