Area 2000 is talked about on the old Fantastic Forum: http://www.fantasticforum.com/1res/showthread.php?postid=676752

Seems it originated from KDWN in Las Vegas and was created by Bob Bigelow according to some book excerpts someone posted.  Sounds like it wasn't syndicated until it became Dreamland.

I too would be LOVE to hear Area 2000 archives. And also Art - do you have copies of all of your old shows -- did you tape them or did Producer Paul? Or does Premrat have the only full archive?

What a strange world we are living in. I sometimes face the same issue - music productions I've worked on are no longer mine. But it's not a bad thing really. There is never a shortage of fresh ideas anyway!

Can I plant an idea in your head? Five bucks is a good amount, but think about having a level of membership above that. Ten bucks and you get access to warpdrive, cat-cam and the opportunity to wish for songs. You get the idea. I think one of the reasons why Kickstarter have become so huge is backers can involve themselves in different levels. 5 bucks entry level. 10 for something extra. 20 for all of that plus extra cheese, 50 for a signed baseball cap etc.

I with you on this one.... How much for "Hang with Art for a Day" .... sit quietly in the studio while Art does his broadcast.
Maybe he'd let you hang-up on some callers, after giving you a slight nod, that it's OK to push the hang-up button.

$5 seem ok to me but you won't win fighting pirates, although I'm guessing most people who know of Art are big fans and wouldn't want to pirate. Or are older and not into the torrent stuff. But once the show starts and the younger set gets into Art piracy will start as many have this idea that everything should be "free."

But my question is:
-what level of "giving" will get the 3rd secret from Father Martin, identification of the anti-Christ, and the Ouija story?
Now that would be a good fundraiser.

That job would be far easier with Dave.  Wait for the caller to almost finish their thought and then press the button.  If you are a little early, nobody will ever know the difference...

Just for the record, I did check and NO I do not have rights to the old shows, any of them. It's ok I can live with that.

Art

I copied about 230 of the Coast To Coast AM program names out of the 1084 programs names that U7 posted for Premier to look at during their little tiff. Unfortunately, I found that they didn't have links to the actual programs attached to the titles of the programs that U7 posted.

Art, I believe that the legal question to Premier/IHateArtRadio and your lawyers should be - did you have all, or any rights to any of the shows prior to Coast being sold to Premier; even though, and while, YOU were still hosting Coast To Coast AM?

I don't see how you could not have had the rights, at that time, and to those programs, because Premier wasn't even on the scene. I believe it would have been any time prior to 1999 or 2000.

And if Premier/IHateArt Radio is making, or have made, any money on the shows you did before you sold the show to them it might mean that they owe all, or most of that money to you.  ;)

Yeah!!! Here's my chance to help Art!
So just let me know when Art and I'll have a team of Harvard Degree attorneys and staffers fly out to Pahrump and start digging through your records. ....Sorry no pro bona.

I like the idea of different subscription levels.

How about an autographed book?

I think Kim Jong-un would be a great first guest for Art.  We could talk about Sony, hacking, starvation, torture, assassinations, comfort squads, and a day in the life of a dictator all with the same guest!

Simpler the better, in my opinion.   Either subscribe or don't subscribe.

Towards the end of his stint on Coast he and Keith made dvds of every thing on the old Coast website. I don't know if the dvds included the programs though.

I own a copy of this and it only contains the web content.  There were no actual shows but it's awesome to be able to look back in time to the website and review the material.

when CBC was sold to premrat, all the rights to existing shows went with. thats how a 1993 SIT happened last saturday. premrat bought mid 1995 i think.

But IF Keith or Producer Paul DID record them for their own personal use ... it would be nice if they anonymously shared with "somebody" who could add them to the ultimate archive. That would serve PremRat right.  ;D

Just hypothetically speaking here of course....  ;)

Hmmm .. it's well into Monday Evening -- the weekend is over .. and no official confirmation that Art and Keith have decided to "roll the dice". Helloooooo -- tap, tap, tap ... Art -- is this thing on???

Art Bell

A lot of the early shows were recorded on VHS video tape! So the quality was so-so. Those were days that if you needed a replay you just threw in a video tape and hit play.

So have you thought it over yet? No pressure. Midnight in the desert a go or no go? Or still thinking?

I recorded Art's shows in the late 1990's early 2000's using VHS tape. The signal wasn't great on our local station (I think they lowered the signal at night...I think some sort of FCC rule or trying to save money). I still have them is a big plastic storage container.

Now we can use DVD-R's to record the shows!

Are you willing to part with them, if someone creates a digital copy. I know a few posters have done this and that's how the ultimate torrent was created.
