People are going to hate me for  saying this but I think George actually had potential when he orginally took over....

I agree he had potential.

I actually thought GN was not too bad the first year or so. After the hair dye and jowl lift ... not so much.

PRN has used George Dave to make a mockery of the original content and spirit of Coast to Coast AM.

I didn't hate Noory. What I hated was that he refused to listen to criticism. You would think that listeners of the show, who have listened for years before Noory, would know what they were talking about when they criticized the show. Instead of even recognizing these fans as human, he called them "haters" which meant he didn't think any of their criticism was worth listening too. That's what bothered me. The fans are what made the show popular. The fans know what they are talking about. George doesn't know how to run a show. Criticism isnt hate. Hell, its the opposite, because at least we tried to care enough to help you fix your show. And that is why I think George Noory sucks.

So true.  My main complaint with the guy is simply that he just doesn't seem interested enough to really dig into the topics, and interact with the guests in a thoughtful way.  He tries to feign interest alot with trite comments like "That's fascinating" or "Good point", etc., but you can tell, he just doesn't have a driving curiosity that hosts like Art, Ian, or George K. have.  If he did then show prep and engaging for real with the guests wouldn't be work as much as a joyful endeavor.  I think he sees himself more as a "radio/tv personality" rather than a seeker of knowledge, and that superficial style results in a shallow experience for the listener.

That sums it up nicely.

Up top on the left it says "Your profile". Click on that, then click on "forum profile". Where it says "Personalized Picture" either upload your own or find one online and post the url.
Edit-btw, I think I remember Noory saying the Pentagon or the President himself requested his service. Nonsense obviously, but thats how Noory spices up his mundane existence. In before the lawsuit..
Thank you - I was wondering too.

I heard a promo on the local station that carries Noorie here in Austin (KLBJ). Even in advertising him, they are forced to pick through his manglings. Speaking about people in the government who looked the other way despite knowing what was coming on 911, Dave said that they "turned their cheeks" on what was coming rather than turned their backs.

That one made me laugh out loud. We should start a thread of common phrases that aren't so common to some people. He sounds like a freak or a ghoul when he says that tragedies are heartwarming.

I want to thank all of you for the many messages that never in a zillion Years I could answer. There is not much I
can say now. However some Months ago I asked Premiere to stop my Saturday replay, I thought they had run their
course and I wanted them gone for reasons I will not state here. They refused and continue to this day for reasons
I still don't understand, so thank Premiere for my new show. I also want to thank George for signing his new LONG
term contract. Without those two things I would not be going back on air. I would only add that if Premiere is going
to continue my Saturday show, please tag it at the end with.."for new shows, please tune to Sirius/XM 104".

With regard to George talking about my new show last night, whatever his motives were, he took the high
ground and can now pick up open lines without undue fear, good move and thanks for the plug.

George has a good trait, he is a nice guy. I would like to dispel the notion however that I picked him for the show, I did not.
The bone I have to pick is with Premiere and it goes well beyond Saturday replays, I have been called a serial Retiree
on the Web and it annoys me because the rest of the story has yet to be told. I may well tell it soon and I think you will
all be quite shocked.

Art

Yep arts axe to grind is with premier.

I agree with previous poster noory is the symptom not the cause of the coast to coast disease.

Honestly I think Noory fucks up so much in part because he isn't a night person. Anyone here who's a night person or has worked nights will know what I mean. Night people are a different fuckin breed and Noory just can't handle the late nights. He gets slack from me for that.

I'm late to the party on this, but good job George for 'taking the high road' and giving a shout out to Art and to Coastgab.  That's the way it's done.

Bateman put fear into them. One prank caller scared the absolute shit out of them.
Question: How in the fuck do these people work at let alone run a radio show?

I worked nights. I got used to it in a month or so. Noory has had over a decade to get used to it.

i agree.  i never felt this visceral hatred for george noory which many others express on a routine basis.  yeah, i became angry at his ineptitude in hosting c2c, but that's really premiere's fault for hiring and retaining him.  noory is the symptom, not the problem.

now that art's back, years of frustration over the demise of c2c have been lifted and, for me, it's as if the whole thing never happened.  i'm looking forward.

what becomes of noory will become of noory.  he delivers a substandard product on a nightly basis with essentially zero competition (until now), so his situation will resolve its self in time.

Many people felt the same way before Noory crossed one of their private lines in some way. For me, it was the many "dead baby stories" and demon references. They combined with the failed ouija board experiment to put me over the edge (so to speak). At least one law enforcement officer posts here. He said that he detected verbal tells and vocal tics when he conducted criminal interviews and polygraph tests. He said that he caught these kinds of revelatory vocalizations when he heard Noory. I bet that our police friend could have a field day with Noory's nod to Art's new program. Of course, I might just be a cynical jerk.

Has it even been declared by anyone that they "hate" Jeorge?
Some people just have rather gifted grammatic skills when expressing certain thoughts.

Edited to add: Art's declaration of Jeorge being able to go to open lines without fear is obviously a stand down order. Which is cool. Although I did lay in bed for three hours listening to Herb Sewell formulating something special.
Maybe if you want to come hang out with us and chitchat Jeorge, MV can create a thread that can serve as sort of a D.M.Z.

I figure that's probably all he can handle making being a studly bachelor and all, and has them for lunchessus and after the show - but not for breakfassusses.

Jambar

Believe me I really tried to like Dave but after too many lifeless interviews, disconnects with guests, lame guests, terrible grammar, mixed metaphors, cheesy product endorsements, rambling callers, interruptions, etc., I gave up.  Art listened to his guests when they answered his questions and he would set up a question quite nicely.  He was interesting in and of himself.  I just don't think Dave is comfortable in his own skin and it shows.  Really awkward mannerisms when I see him in fromt of a live audience.  Frankly, this gig was way above what talent he had but it's his fault too because he failed to develop in his role, which takes hard work to do.  Eight hours prep?  Yeah right.

George needs his critics to 'hate' him.  Otherwise they might be right.

And Ty Bollinger and that stupid Venus Superfly Trap or whatever that crap is called grated on my nerves so badly I stopped listening entirely.  So Ronald Reagan had it flown in, so what?  He also had a jar filled with jelly beans.

For me it was the lack of the mandatory follow up question when the guest says something astonishing, and cutting them off just as they are about to make the point they've been building up to for several minutes    Here I am, staying up late to listen to a certain show on a topic of interest, and George is pulling this shit.  And making clear he couldn't care less.

I sent a couple emails trying to helpfully point out he was doing these things hoping he would realize it and stop.  Instead I got back emails about being a hater and all that.  Wrong answer Georgie - nope, not the right responses at all.

If Norry would stop hosting quack "doctors" and disseminating dangerous medical advice, I would more-or-less ignore him.

I never hated Noory. I definitely never wished harm on him or anybody, for that matter. Just between us, I even prayed for his loved ones. I doubt that more than a few Bell-Gabbers actually loathe the guy.

Spinner

Guess I'm a bit late to the party, but I just now found out that Dave mentioned Art on Friday's show. I wish I had heard it, but I never listen to his Friday shows because his version of open lines suck. And I didn't catch up with yesterday's posts here, so I had no idea.

Now I need to spend some time catching up on the posts to find out what exactly happened.
Is there an audio clip?

Eight hours prep?  Yeah right.
1/2 hr. to read the back cover blurb on the guest's latest book
1/2 hr. to condition his moustache
1 hr. to croon old Elvis/Humperdinck songs to get in the mood
6 hrs. to get his pizza rolls done just right

Thanks to you and Jinwicked for bringing up other crossed lines. Yeah, the emails showed us that he wasn't a nice guy. Helpful advice isn't the same thing as hateful anger. It's like he flipped the bird at you after you tried to help him. You brought something else to light too. The lack of obvious follow-ups might have been the worst broadcasting sin of all. The quacks and snake oil were dangerous too. You guys are alleviating my sense of guilt.

If no one posts a clip, you can hear the segment on You Tube. It's towards the end of the show.
