I did that once.  I was over at a friend's house when I was around 13 and basically played a symphony on the piano off the top of my head.  I played for at least ten minutes and my friends were astounded. They thought I was playing Mozart or Beethoven.  I made the damn thing up right then and there.  I have minimal music training.  I played trombone in school and tinkered with an old family organ.  I can tell you that when I was playing I felt like I was almost possessed.  It felt like my hearing was expanded hundredfold and my hands just seemed to find all the right chords.  I look back and wish I had a tape of it.  It was really beautiful and I could never repeat it.  I didn't really even try to repeat it.  Lightning doesn't strike twice.

I am presently gripped firmly by an idolization of Sia, and have been utterly so without a glimpse of release for the past half a day. She is a musical genius. This video has 135,175,914 views, and for damn good reason.

I first saw her on SNL, months ago, and like all musical geniuses, I first thought, "who the fuck is this crazy fucker?" I sat through it and yearned to fast forward through it. Now, I'm about ready to go out and haul rocks for a temple.

Do we still do that? Let's bring that back.
