i think this is mainly a attempt to curb piracy. the microsoft "am i genuine?" check will always be labeled a "high priority security update" even though it does nothing to enhance the security of the end user.
while mostly i am ok with updating windows with the latest security fixes, we should not be forced to do so.
i suppose microsoft has adopted the "people volunteer better if forced to" approach.

I think this will be only for the non - pro versions of windows from my understanding, but still, the damn thing is free....they are saying it's only free if you have a 7/8 license, but i bet there will be ways to tinker around with that and still get w10 free.

MV, am I allowed to ask a tech question here, or should I save it for the show? Because I wanna fucking get rid of OneDrive, and it's infected my entire computer with it's lameness and won't let me uninstall it.

I've seen that article and followed the instructions to disable the synching feature. Unfortunately it also states it cannot be completely uninstalled from 8.1, and it's giving me issues, such as preventing my user desktop from loading on occasion. I know this because it tells me "one drive failed to load" or something. I also edited the registry, but all that did was hide it from desktop explorer.....maybe I'm just stuck with it and just have to put up with the occasional inconvenience.

it is installed with windows 8 and newer. integrated with the os. perhaps you can semi-remove it in the "install windows components" applet.

The Spec Sheet will be live tonight at 8pm EST. MV won't be available so I am looking for some co-hosts to help fill in. If you have a point of view on the upcoming Windows 10 release and want it to be heard on the Dark Matter Digital Network now is your chance to share it.

If interested in taking part you will need to have audio quality at least equal to what Art expects for callers on MiTD, i.e.headset mic and skype. Spots are filling up fast so PM me if you are interested.

bad news. My a/c isnt working and I can't get this f%&@ing box fan to work correctly so I am going to have to cancel tonight's episode. We will be back next week with a cooler show (literally).

I just found out about the show and the cancellation in the same span of a minute--from heights of elation, to the depths of despair. I don't know how to cope. I did all this show prep on Jeff Lash, and now it's worthless. Thanks. Better luck next time, stay frosty!
