I happened to make a trip out to the ghetto-ish part of town yesterday.  Some enterprising folk had set up one of those pop-up abandoned corner tent "stores" (usually selling unlicensed sports T-shirts etc) this one had a big sign "CORONA SUPPLIES.'

I wonder if they had any coofiyahs in the "Creamed Corn Teen" pattern (unlicensed of course)?

" Now if they were asking for donations to pay for masks for the kids, that would make sense.

I figured "shit I'm get pulled over, I wasn't speeding, but thought maybe violating the lock-down and my license was expired- Gov waived this due to DPS/DMV offices shut down but thought I'd have to explain that to cop and get hassled." But nope. He passed me took a sharp right and pulled into a Donut-Taco place that was still open during the lock-down. Now there could've been a report of a robbery or maybe a violation of still being open during a lock-down- but I think he just wanted some donuts or a breakfast taco.

I'm actually too angry to type much. But our fucker of a Prime Minister has decided to use COVID to bypass having to actually have a vote in the house. He has declared 1,500 guns to be "prohibited" as of today in Canada. Guns that last week you could buy and use hunting you can no longer own or even take out of your house to the range. Overnight.

All in the space of one day. I didn't vote for the weasel piece of shit dictator, and I have resolved to vote to separate from this country if given the opportunity. I had already said that I would. ^ I like VDH and of course I am sympathetic but (as I think I observed a while ago) simply using the number of people with antibodies as your total number of cases to generate a lower death rate can only be compared with the flu if you take a similar approach, actually testing for flu antibodies rather than counting just people reported sick with the flu.  We don't do anywhere near this kind of testing with the flu to find the number of people who were exposed and fought it off and just got a sniffle or nothing at all so it's apples and oranges.

That said, I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong on this point.

They are still aiming at, in their words, "symptomatic illnesses", presumably since the number of asymptomatic flu infections is of little practical value unless you are comparing things.

Using the antibody-test number for this virus specifically includes asymptomatic "illnesses".  Mostly I was just surprised to see VDH making a specious comparison.

This problem was worsened in Australia because in Nov/Dec Sydney and Melbourne were blanketed in smoke from the bushfires for days on end, causing any type of mask to be completely sold out (despite not doing anything to help with the smoke) long before the wuflu appeared and they were never restocked. I think somehow the government managed to acquire the proper PPE because you never hear doctors complaining about a lack of it anymore, but admittedly the caseload is small.

Yeah. And the problem was made worse in Canada because we allowed the Chinese government to send people to our country in January and ship 90 fucking TONS of PPE back to their mainland. Once all retailers were sold out, the government of Canada then turned around and donated 16 more TONS of PPE that they had stockpiled for Canadian health workers in case of a pandemic.

I'm sure that Dr. Who was in the background telling Justine that Canada would not need it and that China needs it more. Now they sent two planes to China for PPE and those returned empty. Did I mention that the Chinese have nationalized three factories owned by meidcom- a Canadian manufacturer and are holding the products for their citizens.

Good thing that Trudeau wants that seat on the UN. I'm really hoping that China give it to him.

Even the mainstream media is starting to question why China would be importing 2 billion masks while telling the world "all is fine" (backed by the WHO and Tam.) The kicker is that each gun has been registered to a certain owner. The laws around restricted firearms are quite clear, and if you break them, they remove your "right" to buy any more and ban you from owning any.

The government has each persons address and what gun they have that is now "prohibited." I suspect most people will wait until they really start cracking down (presumably there will be a period before they call in the swat team) and will hope that the Liberals get booted and sanity returns.
