Yes - we are in agreement here.

Also, if the show has only just started and Keith is already complaining about wasting 'time and space' then how are things going to be regarding 'time and space' after a month of shows?
Why should I pay for something of which I can get the exact same thing with no paranormal news at the bottom of the hour elsewhere on the Internet?

Is this a conspiracy? (jk!)

The paranormal news isn't part of the show, its the network news segments.. They don't even make up the majority of the news segments either. I'm paying for Art not random paranormal news and crappy commercials with that bi1tch yelling about kick starter.

Why should I pay for something that does not work?

The download does not work.  the pause/play does not work--I am not the only one-I have talked to others w/ the same issues.

This is a legit issue, everyone bitching about paranormal news are just being stingy.

Whatever

with the up most respect sir, what these people are asking for isn't anything more than what's standard operating procedure for podcasts in 2015.

If Keith is serious about forming a STARS patrol for finding pirates (which isn't a good move imo), give the people a product worth fighting for, or at least smile when saying "Take it and like it"

I'm a member, but a simple youtube search filtered "today" provided me a better product than the one available for download.

I just wanted to say that after checking my email this morning I actually got a refund of my $5 and I didn't ask for one - so that is a positive.
Had it been known before that the paranormal news wouldn't be included in the playback, then I wouldn't have signed up in the first place for the reasons I stated previously.

If Art and Redacted didn't hype up the paranormal news at the bottom of the hour when she interviewed him, then things might be different for me in this instance.
But because they did hype it up which got me to sign up in the first place and then find out that when you pay you don't get the news afterall.... it's... an injustice and false advertising.

If they sort out making the paranormal news worth the 'time and space' into the playbacks, then I would def subscribe again.

I wish I knew how to do that. I still have not heard all of the shows and I have spent a lot of time trying to do so.

Your complaints don't make sense. Well, they do make sense but they have already been explained. The music is a copyright issue which is why there are abrupt cuts before and after the breaks. What else is wrong with the audio quality? I found the quality in the audio to be very good, please explain what is wrong with it?

Asadora your complaint makes even less sense. paranormal news is during commercial breaks, why should I pay for something with commercial breaks in it?  If I'm paying 5 dollars a month I expect there to be no bloody commercials. What you get for 5 dollars is every show that month. If you don't pay you can not listen at your leisure, whats so hard to understand?

So, I'm guessing you are one of the people that don't pay and can listen to the live show in it's entirety for free while live? And so you are having a go at me, because I'm not paying for -your- free entirety of a show for you to be able to listen to it live for free?

Why would I want to pay for something that other people can enjoy in it's entirety when as a paying person I don't get the same content?
Now that is what really makes even less sense!
haha.

And anyway you are complaining about complaining, so get off your high horse please..oh wait, let me help you, but it will cost you five bucks.

I never heard anyone hyping it. It shouldn't be a given that part of the news commercial is part of the show. Saying hey cool paranormal news! My audience is going to like that as they sit through commercial's (I'm assuming that's how the discussion went) doesn't mean you should assume they are in the archives. I care more about the show than random news segments and don't want any commercials in my MITD archive.

Your also pretending commercials are more content that we are getting robbed of when most are just annoying crap.

They probably do not make sense because I am not very good at articulating myself.

I'm well aware of the copyright issue.

When I refer to abrupt cuts, this is what I mean: Art's sentence's are chopped off as the music begins, and not very well. I have sat through hours of my own personal collection of Somewhere in Time Shows, for days at a time editing the bumper music back into the audio. I am sensitive to clicks and blips... The editing is shoddy on the Hancock show. Like I said I have faith it'll improve, but I was airing my frustration.

If Art's audio was all there, full sentences, but no music, it'd be great. But instead it sounds sloppily patched together and pieces of the music are in some areas and not in others.

Here is the evidence which backs up everything I have said.

Granted this might not be "legal" or "encouraged" officially but if it is for personal use only, I think ok morally- especially if you have donated some money or have become a Time Traveler- why don't you simply record the live stream onto your phone or computer? Than you have the archived show with music and the paranormal news.

henge0stone

I don't hear his sentences getting cut out but the cuts are abrupt. The second show was handled a bit better and even has all of the outro, I only listened to the last hour, maybe the editing will get better. I just don't think its a huge deal but I'm not sensitive to clicks (I know some people are) so maybe I'm not the right person to comment on it.

tularosa

How do you record the live stream onto your computer?

The second show was indeed handled better!  :)

The audio has improved. As I suspected it would.

I reiterate, I'm sure as time goes by things will improve. Its still early days.

Again, a thousand apologies for my bitching, though its nice to have gotten some feedback.

My intent was not to blow your buzz. We're all on a high from Art's return!

I know its not encouraged.

I am a Time Traveler, yes.

I managed to record the live stream on my computer, but only for the Open Lines/Test Show. I set everything up for the Hancock show and due to buffering and connectivity issues my efforts bottomed out.

My husband is teaching me how to do that - thank goodness I married an IT guy - free tech support for life! :)

If it works for me, then I'll resubscribe, pay someone else for something I've done myself - haha.

If Art and Redacted didn't say so much about the paranormal news at the bottom of the hour during their interview, then I would be happy and still a Time Traveler, as I wouldn't have been none the wiser really.

Everyone is different. We all have different perceptions.
I try to enjoy the paranormality of my meager earth-plane existence without having to forego anymore of my morality or ethical standards.

I still enjoy Art, just not going to pay for it until they figure out what they are excatly what they are going to do for paying subbers.

Its our $5. Regardless if it was our $0.01, we could turn it over a few times and decide what we wanted to spend it on.

henge0stone

I'm extremely happy that midnight in the desert is on the end of the mp3s now.
I would total be off this forum if I could find the remote  :P

I don't wish to encourage piracy and there are so many methods to do this (depending on machine, software, stream type, etc) that I can't answer except to say it is easy if you look around for software or apps or if you have a portable media player device that allows you to do this (or get a cassette recorder ;))

Before we all start complaining about problems, let's give Art and Keith a few weeks to iron out the issues. I quite sure they have enough going on.

Stress them out too much, and we will all be back to spending most of our time b*ching about Dave.

Agree totally.  Give it some time to be all worked out.

Is this as "slick" as some of the other ways I listen to podcasts ? - No.

But it's -

Brand New
$5.00
Art

Please relax, folks.

Morgus

I think a lot of the issues stem from Keith Rowland being overworked as a "one man operation" having to do everything himself, not just for Art's show but for the whole DM network and babysitting Hoagland's live show as well.

I again suggest Keith hire some assistant(s) and/or intern(s) to concentrate on some of the separate tasks like the podcast editting, etc. - it will get done quicker and probably better if someone is concentrating solely on that task alone.
The artbell.com website needs updates too, to show more info on the schedule and shows including bumper music list - another task for one person alone.
If the estimates of how many subscriptions they have gotten is close to accurate there should be enough cash to hire some staff to reduce Keith's workload.

aldousburbank

Morgus always makes so much sense. Despite this, I like him.
