I want to know seriously why we all have to be a like in order to get along? Just because I don't agree with your opinion does not make you a bad person in my book. Just a whole lot of that going on.
I like the majority of people here. It saddens me that an opinion on a topic can cause such a divide. The music was awesome the other night. I just really wish everyone could just respect each other's views. But that isn't going to happen. People defend and protect their view points. I try and remain open minded. Because you never know. Sorry just thought peace loving people here might be able to help me.

PBS I personally enjoy dissenting opinions and debate. What got me about the trolls in the Art thread was the fact that they were attacking people personally in a vicious manner for no other reason than to be cruel.   I hope that makes sense. I seem to be having trouble expressing myself lately.

You can't honestly defend trollish behavior or personal attacks. If you try, then you are being disengenious.

If you think it is ok, let's open up a thread called "Rollye James is fat, ugly and her feet stink" and we can take the discussion there.

Wouldn't bother me. No one has to conform to my belief system ever, or how I feel about any talk show host, including Rollye. People hate her and I would not try to defend her at all.
But I get it. People are loyal. It's ok, really. I'm not going to quit speaking my mind because it offends people. I don't feel the need to make other people see my view point. But that's just me.

I'm also not going to hate someone because their opinion is different from mine. But hey the great thing is no one has to do what I do. That's the beauty of life.

I understand what you are saying because I am experiencing the same thing.  It seems as if everyone has to be rooting for the same team, and if I feel like booing for the designated team, I am politely asked to keep my opinions to myself, and only post pictures of coffee and donuts instead.  That might not be the intent, but that's how I feel none the less.

If people want to post a "brig is an idiot" thread, they're allowed to.  It's bellgab, I can handle it.  If I can't, I probably shouldn't be reading threads on bellgab.

Of course people can have different opinions, I guess some of us just object to the personal attacks and continuous (on a loop) negative commentaries  that just seem to be running very rampant now-a-days.

That's the real problem as I see it, GS. The trolls have gotten some of the regulars here to conflate the idea of a legitimate difference of opinion with trolling, as if it's a legitimate point of view in a reasonable argument. It's not. It's simply the attempt by some to cause consternation and make others feel all itchy and uncomfortable just for the fun of it. It's how they get their kicks. They're not arguing for any other perspective but that. Differences of opinions even to the point of insult and disrespect have always been a part of this board to some degree but this troll invasion is new and different. It's kinda sad to see some smart people being taken in by it and getting themselves lost in a relativistic universe

Nope, your absolutely correct.  And you talk your opinion with dignity; you never use any type of continuous mean personal attacks.

I think myself, and several on here aren't fighting for a group think; or that everyone should have the same opinion or be aligned with everyone else on everything.   Of course, different opinions and views matter, I don't even see how this is an argument here  --  ... for some of us,it's just that personal attacks and undignified posts by folks who seem to  only want to yell fire in a crowded theater .... just to churn up a broken record again and again is draining of energy and lacks some common day courtesies.

Love Ya Ms. C !  I look at it as a challenge to my personal development.  It makes it .......I was going to say FUN, but I think the better word is INTERESTING, and STRENGTHENING.  To use the present moment to strengthen or drain.  It's a moment to moment choice IMO.

You and I hold opposite views on "the matter."  But, your view is just a part of who you are, just as my view is just a part of who I am.  I like you as a person regardless of your view.  This is where I stand.

Thank You Brig.  You are a remarkable woman.  I have never intentionally wanted anyone to be quiet....but from now on I won't post unless I have taken the proper time to read the posts above for context.
