Even I am not powerful enough to overcome the combined forces of Hoagland, Spence (worst professor ever), Bassett, Lambert and Buchman. Hopefully everyone boycotts tonight and his streaming numbers are so awful that Fred comes in and bans political talk and these guests from the show. I would give a lot to be able to quiz Walter Cronkite briefly on just how close he and Hoagland really were (or were not).  Something tells me that Cronkite worked with hundreds (if not thousands) of people once or twice in the course of following a story during his four decades in the news business and then never spoke to them again; I suspect Hoagland was one of these.

It is odd how Hoagland's famous "good friends" never seem to be members of the oxygen-sucking demographic.

Hoagland once told a story from Apollo days. He and Cronkite, and some nameless female "whose long hair was flying in the wind" were speeding along the Beeline Expressway that connects Orlando airport to the Cape. Cronkite said "You know, Dick, give it a generation and these moonshots will be the stuff of legend and the basis of action movies." How right he was. But, y'know, that doesn't convey any sense of deep friendship, it's just shop talk.
