What will you drink while listening to Midnight in the Desert?

I'd be more interested in what Dave will be drinking while listening. Neat Scotch with a Tylenol chaser probably.

Mastodonkey

Sprite, Water, Tea. Pure debauchery on a nightly basis no less.

Now that enough thyme has passed...

I've not been sticking to any particular regime of beverages.

Experimentation has revealed that Beam & Cola, IPA beers (any with high IBU ratings), straight eau-de-vis (oiskhe), girl-shots and Kool Aide (or Orange Juice, methinks the Vitamin C helps) all work just fine.

ediot: furgot coffee/properT

Listening live doesn't work for me as I'm in the UK, so I tend to listen in the morning while I'm working, hence coffee.

Shouldn't the question be "What will drive you to drink while listening to Midnight in the Desert? ;)

My response would be: "Anytime I hear that damned Squatty Potty (tm) commercial or the Psychic Treadmill Repairman ad (Sorry Art, I knows you gots to pay da bills. Just poking a little fun!).

Lately for me it's codeine-promethazine cough syrup.  I sure hope this is bronchitis, because pneumonia would be awful.

Usually though, I wouldn't want any kind of downer because it's hard enough staying up that late (Eastern).  OTOH, caffeine hits too slowly & would tend to keep me up after the show.  If I ever became a subscriber & could time-shift, then my beverage options would be more varied.

I've seen a few other whiskey enthusiasts on this thread.  I've recently re-entered the world of single malt scotches.

Having a delightful Glenmorangie 10 Yr. right now which I scored on sale.  Ok it's pretty mild, but I'm starting off with the more accessible stuff ... working my way slowly up the smoke/peat/herbal scale.

If anyone has any good scotch pairings with MITD lemme know.

Nothing better than a Knob Creek 130proof and a good Rockey Patel Connecticut while listening to the master!

Chamomile tea .... or if I'm feeling really wild and crazy....hot chocolate

Sorry, don't know about scotch pairings, but here's my gin recipe:  Tall glass of 50% cheap gin and 50% grapefruit juice (sub lemonade if you are on statins, like me.)  I guarantee you will feel like the smartest dude (or squirrel) on Earth by the time Art is winding his show up.  You will want to call in and share your knowledge with him...if only you could remember the damn Skype number, much less find your phone.  (Of course, this will only work with Art's two drink minimum rule.)

I'm a gin fan esp. in summer.  My fave:  the gibson (to the uninitiated that's a martini with cocktail onions not olives).  I like about a 5:1 ratio, Bombay's gin to dry vermouth. Three onions.  Perfection.

When I was a teenager I got a job as a busboy in this fancy Italian restaurant. I was back in the bar flirting with the cougar of a cocktail waitress when I popped what I thought was a grape from the cocktail makin's thing on top of the bar.

It was no grape I assure you and It was hard to look all suave chomping on a cocktail onion.  It all turned out good though, she still liked me :)
