The guy who runs stranger dimensions might be a good guest. He isn't a crazy dude, he just covers allot of the topics that I'm interested in and kinda comes at things as a skeptic. Sorry thats not a topic as much as a guest

The theory that consciousness is a state of matter.

I thought I had posted this before, but I hadn't hope Knapp and his guest get around to talking about the idea tonight.

He'll have to get back on it if he wants that paranormal date hook-up.

It's always seemed to me like the era has natural connections to C2C, with legends about haunted ships and pirate ghosts (or maybe that's just all those Scooby-Doo cartoons I grew up watching!  :) ) This would have been a perfect topic for Ian Punnett, who did a lot more real history stuff,
I'd no idea how interesting that topic was until I heard a lecture given by Peter Lamborn Wilson maybe 20 yrs. ago at the Libertarian Book Club's Anarchist Forum on it.  Of course Capt. Sweeney's already covered modern piracy on C2C.

Hell, I could go on for hrs. & hrs. on one of my hobby horses -- http://users.bestweb.net/~robgood/teach .  The major mystery now is something my friend never explained to me: why he made a TV serial w a hidden plot that seemed to have been only for me, at the expense of making himself seem incompetent by never revealing the sense-making mystery, leaving a show that to the entire rest of the world had a plot that made no sense.

The topic could be expanded to inside jokes generally on TV.  TV, especially commercials, has long been milking the 23s & 17s; they were even placed prominently in movies long before Shea & Wilson publicized the phenomenon.  I guess you could describe the phenomenon as "funny conspiracies in art".  Unfortunately the topic would be much better covered in video than audio-only.

Robert

There are magazinesful (literally) of Forteana that would seem to be grist for the mill of C2C, especially with discussion by phoners-in etc.

The shows where Ian interviewed Capt. Kelly were always interesting. Wish Knapp would have him back on.

I wish Knapp would have the guy who claimed he figured out the identity of DB Cooper as well.

As people get older the public might not remember DB Cooper but I agree that a show about him and the various official updates and theories.

Ahoy, I second having Capt.Sweeney on about maritime issues especially with all the problems we've seen recently regarding flags-of-convenience, lack of security on cruise ship, piracy, terrorism, and the like. And the on-going disputes over territory and fishing/mineral rights.

What was great was that they seemed to be able to get him on short notice to comment on nautical issues in the headlines during the newsy 1st hr. of C2C.  That was when C2C's producers impressed me in that they seemed to have a stable of experts they could call on for such purposes.  Hoagland was one of them, because when he was confined to commenting on astronomic issues briefly, he usually didn't get into his mishigos about...you know.  At that time I thought of him as a good guy to present such material to a general audience even though he had some eccentricities.  Now it's all about his eccentricities.

When we find out Sweeney claims to have a sea monster in his swimming pool, we'll know he's jumped the kraken too.

Looks like the remains of a giant squid to me.

Giant squids actually might make for an interesting topic. They still have quite a bit of mystery surrounding them.

The Plain of Jars, a group of ancient sites in Laos containing huge stone jars that date back to the Iron Age, whose origins are still somewhat unknown.

There's room on the Librarian's team, because that would be a super topic for Art.

Can you imagine Snoory on that? "Did they ever find a dishwasher in one?"

Didn't they drop a dishwasher or some big appliance into Mel's Hole? I seem to remember something like that.

The original Hole the local populace used to drop all kinds of things in there tires, old appliances, etc (think any common sinkhole or illegal garbage dump) including a guy who dumped his dead dog in there (and then who had a dog running around later that looked like it but would never approach him, supposedly.) The Indian/Basque sheepherder Hole they lowered a sheep and it came out like some kind of seal-like creature that disturbed most people, including Mel. (As I recall the Indians wouldn't go near the Hole but the Basques would.) On the good side they could heat their camp with some stones lowered in a bucket and then removed, as I recall. But you could touch the bucket and no heat was felt.

A revisit with Mel, or lacking that, his ex-wife, the former wombat rescue people in Oz, the Basque sheepherders, the truckers, or the Indians involved at various points (or a government whistleblower) would be excellent for the new MITD!!

"That's right, Art did ask that question! It says so right on this card, and that I am a shameless, talentless hack who will read anything put in front of him for an easy buck!"

Force fields - aka the topic that has eaten the RCH thread up whole recently. Three guesses who is to blame there.

Bohemian Grove talk tonight. Hopefully it'll get into the cross-dressing and homoerotic activity in the Grove.

Holy Ghosts

I honestly feel like Coast to Coast covers a good broad range of topics. I just wish there were more threads on this forum related to these paranormal topics, and less threads dedicated to the intricacies of online gossip, or the "Art vs. George" issue...

It seems like a well-attended forum with plenty of intelligent, interesting folks. Let's spend more time talking about interesting things!

This place gets more hip-hop-happenin' when there are actual new shows to listen to. Keep the faith.

The woman Peter Davenport was discussing tonight who saw baseball-sized globes in her backyard. Dave seemed totally disenfranchised with it.
