SyFy Channel's "Aliens on the Moon"

Uncle Duke

Anyone else watch this program last night?  I'd give it a C+, think they did themselves a disservice with some of the lunar "researchers" and "experts" (Mike Bara, Joshua P Warren, some goofball wanna be decked out in NASA clothing, a photo analyst dressed like a Starfleet engineer) they presented, and including the silly "Apollo 20" story that has long been discredited.  On the plus side, no Hoagland or Noory.

More impressive were the apparently official NASA (or Russian) photographs and film they presented that appeared to show structures and alien spacecraft on the Moon.  As one would expect, some were more eye catching than others.  They did colorize most, if not all, of the structures/spacecraft to make it easier for the viewer to see what they identified to be of possible alien origin.  This to me is the optical equivalent of telling listeners what they should hear in an EVP or backwards masking of rock music, you hear it once they tell you what you should hear.  In this case, you saw what you were supposed to see after it was highlighted.  Again, some were easier to see/accept than others.

The program included interviews with Buzz Aldrin and Edgar Mitchell, both former NASA astronauts who walked on the Moon.  I thought Mitchell made some good points, but I was embarrassed for Aldrin.  Aldrin just sort of rambled on and on, don't know if it's just old age, early onset dementia, or the results of his longtime battle with the bottle.  Particularly sad was his response to questions about photographs taken during his own Apollo 11 mission.

All in all, I thought it was a slightly above average documentary that could have been very good with more credible experts and the exclusion of some of the wackier conspiracy theories/theorists.

Enough said.  ::)

I saw most of it and thought it was pretty much the same old tired, discredited ancient alien stuff.  If they'd wanted a serious discussion, they should have limited it to real scientists and left out the charlatans and hustlers.  I noticed that the interviews with the scientists was skillfully edited to make it sound like they were conceding the possibility of lunar aliens, but if you listened between the lines, it was apparent they were carefully qualifying their answers with a lot of ifs.  I also noticed the goomer with the Star Trek type shirt. Instant credibility.

They're also going to need much better pictures if they ever want to convince me.  I can never pick out the object they claim is artificial until they highlight it.  I always try to guess where they are before the highlighting and am always way off.  I guess that's why Mike Bara makes the big bucks and gets all the hot chicks (in his mind, anyway).

Bara uses old pictures to explain his stupid theories lies, even though there are far better pictures. He stole this scam from Hoagland. Two peas in the same very shitty pod.

Expat has covered this 'show' on his blog.. Tears it into quite small bite size chunks really!  ;D

Yeah, I enjoy Expat's site a lot, and his effortless ability to make Mike Bara squawk like a parrot that just got a turpentine enema.  However, I think that's where I heard about BellGab, and I'm torn between gratitude and bitter resentment for getting addicted to this damn site.

You're the champ, though.  That accent transforms even the nastiest filth into elegant and refined erotica that's inspired me to more than one alarming release.

I don't know why they still alarm you; that's troubling. Mike Bara would suggest that a Turkish bath house was the solution..I have no idea what he means.

I was just referring to WildCard's post in the "Nice Little Facts" thread about Warren Harding's love letters in which he uses the term, which struck me as uncommonly clever.  I actually find those releases delightful and relaxing.  I don't know anything about Turkish bath houses, either, but I imagine if you e-mailed Mike Bara and asked him about his firsthand knowledge of those establishments he would be would graciously answer all of your questions.

I stopped reading after Mike Bara.
Coincidentally, I see Mike Bara is scheduled as the guest on c2cam this Wed night.
He probably meant to be on last week to promo his Syfy special that aired last night?

They even showed pics of the infamous Hoagland "Data's Head" on the moon near the end of the show, but didn't even credit or mention Hoagland at all...

Data's head sure gets around. Isn't it on Mars, too?  Or could one of them be Lore's?
