Thanks kiddo.  I will be better in a couple.

Should I bring a bottle of scotch over, or will that only make things worse?  Take care, my man.

I'm not a fan of 3D. The theater I saw it in was the antithesis of movieplex type settings.

This movie was definitely worth the ticket price. It's a smart movie but not really a cerebral movie, if you get me. I read, the plot originated from a blog. I can say the script alludes to loneliness and isolation but it is never really addressed. Bleh I'm not a movie critic, I had a good time.
Thanks. Will see. I don't like 3D either. Recently/currently watching? "Outrage!" with the great Robert Culp, available on the interwebs.

Thanks brother.  Bring the bottle.  With that, I won't even feel it when you touch it.

Just caught The Gene Generation (2008).  Dark dystopian sci-fi, pretty strange movie, but I was impressed with Bai Ling, not just for how she looks in her futuristic assassin outfits, but actually she put in some good acting.  I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but if it's on some nite it's worth checking out, if you're into bleak futuristic fare.

Just watched the trailer. Looks interesting. Some of that gene altering technology is for real. Read Ray Kurzweil's books, he dun talk about it. As for Bai Ling, she was hot and cool, if you take my meaning, though she's nearly 50 now and probably pretty darn scary lookin'.

Last night I watched the most boring sci-fi movie I've ever seen. It was on the STARZ channel and it was called "transmitter test".

The Search for Michael Rockefeller (2010 documentary â€" Netflix) Having heard bits & pieces of this story over the years -  it was good to get the larger picture by watching this. Nutshell: 23 year old son of ridiculously wealthy Nelson Rockefeller disappears somewhere in savage New Guinea following the capsizing of his boat, in 1961. The larger mythology has him drowning and/or being eaten by: A) Crocodiles, B) Sharks or C) the local cannibal natives. The story picks up steam though when a writer for Argosy magazine spends 7 weeks in 1969 trying to run down the story of Rockefeller’s disappearance. Understandably he has very little to go on in regard to finding Rockefeller but some pretty good interviews are taped with people who knew the kid while they were all in-country…The writer ends up commissioning a guy with a camera to shoot some additional  footage of island regions where there might be more clues to the mystery…Without giving it away if you haven’t seen this yet â€" check out some of  this camera footage revealed towards the end (supposedly on the shelf for 40+ years.) I understand now why the 1961 Rockefeller disappearance is so danged interesting.

Mission To Mars...again for like the 4th time

Now you've done it. You've gone and upset Richard Hoagland again by watching Mission to Mars without consulting him.

What's next ... Red Planet ... John Carter?  Hoagie knows what they're really about.

I'll have to watch that. I read the book Savage Harvest, and it seems like he was eaten. After swimming to shore, they killed him after he swam near their boat. Locals also mention that their past relatives did in fact eat him, but were afraid to say anything because he was a white man. Pretty crazy.

Though there is the theory he 'went native.'  But, arguably, the skull stuff sent home is in some secret frat house now, for future generations to worship/fear?

Watched Spooks Run Wild (b/w 1941) last night, for the umpteenth time.  Stars Bella Lugosi and The East Side Kids.  Fun movie to watch.  Bella seems to be having a fun time and Leo Gorcey, Huntz Hall and Ernest Morrison put in solid performances.

In a nutshell, some under privileged street urchins get rounded up in Hell's Kitchen and are taken to a summer camp out in the woods.  They wind up in a haunted house.

The thing that struck me while watching this was the dialogue.  It's snappy and funny...kind a like the posts on BellGab.  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that half a dozen BellGab dudes were magically reduced in age and were then transported back to 1941 to appear in the movie.

I own a store bought copy but there is a YouTube offering that is just as good.  Just watch it after midnight.  Adds more flavor that way.

Here is Scruno being surprised by a spider.  "A white spider!" he exclaims.  "Must be the ghost of a black widow."

Yeah...it doesn't take much to make me laugh.

Yeah, that's not bad actually.

I watched "Area 51" on Netflix.  Meh.  No better or worse than most found footage films.  The ending will piss you off until you think about the plot and realize what was really happening.

Not here.  It looks too modern day Hollywood for me.  I'm expecting crap acting, mediocre writing, and way too much CGI.  Please disappoint me.

I did see Rifftrax do "Miami Connection" last week.  "OMG!" hilarious.  You'd have to see it to get the comment. ;)  Also caught a late showing of "Young Frankenstein."  Mel Brooks, Gene Wider, et al at their best.  Comedic genius.

Saw The Gunman this weekend. I am not sure why it got such poor reviews. It was a pretty good flick.

Was it anti-gun?

Nope, had sniper not have already been used for a title, they might have used that.

The story is about a guy that had been part of a mercenary group that took out a head of state. A decade later the group members are being killed, or are already dead. It's a suspense thriller. And imo a good movie.

YF never grows old for me.  Ha!  Yes, Hackman is hilarious.  "... I was going to make espresso!" :))

Also saw "Goodnight, Mommy."  Something a little different in horror.  It's worth a watch for a stylish, foreign flick.

I really hope the Martian isn't a pile of CGI crap....but it probably will be :(
