It was fun watching Alan in Dylan's Don't Look Back.  Wonder what he's been up to of late?

It appears that he does gigs in the UK, but I don't see any recent releases in his discography. Every time I see Eric Burdon, I'm reminded how Price and Chandler were the brains in the band.

Amen to that.

I don't think that beats a "Pod People" and "Mitchell" hand.

Linda Evans is still trying to shower the Joe Don Baker out.

I watched The World's Fastest Indian staring Anthony Hopkins. It's based on a true event about 67 year-old Burt Munro who travelled from New Zealand to the Salt Flats of Utah to try for a record on his custom motorcycle.

Also watching the Doc Martin series- way better than House, MD
I watched that a few years ago and by the end, thought Munro was parasite and a fooking idiot.

Shuffled the MST3K card deck at random.org, and episode #505, The Magic Voyage of Sinbad, came up to watch next.

Jesters wild.

Haha, Secret Agent: Superdragon, that was a good one. "One day I'm going to bend at the waist" lol

One of my favorites is Attack of the The Eye Creatures. It was about creatures covered with eyes that were susceptible to light. It was filmed during the day, lol. Also you could see the sneakers of one of the eye creatures. One of the lines from the movie "It had me!"  Tom Servo: "It had you?!" The quote might be a little off, it's been a long time.

Watching this series on Netflix right now. It’s hilarious. British sit com…Misanthropic, hard drinking bookstore owner who hates his customers… I like it for what it says about working for a living…

Episode 1 â€" it’s about 20 minutes.

Went to see Spectre. I fell asleep.

Hey Onan, despite our differences over on ...ahem... another thread, I respect your opinion.  Why were you bored with this film?

My primary criticism is that I would have liked to have seen more of Christoph Waltz, and the ending wasn't quite what I had hoped for.  Given the ease with which I can suspend disbelief, I quite enjoyed the movie.

Haven't seen it yet, but here's my capsule reviews of Craigster's earlier Bond flicks:

-Casino Royale - First half quite good, second half lost me.
-Quantum of Solace - Hard to review, I didn't understand what was happening most of the time.  Nice location shots though.
-Skyfall - Really great for about the first forty mins. in, then continually escalating ridiculousness until the facepalm ending.  I really don't get why this movie spawned such a collective spasm of critical gushing except it does have a great song.

Spoilers ahead.

I didn't mean to imply Spectre was one of the worst movies I have seen. Much of the film is engaging.

Having said that, let's start with the acting. Léa Seydoux as Madeline was placed as eye candy and not the expensive, worth-waiting-for candy. Here is how I judge an acting performance. I close my eyes and just listen to the dialogue. Without the pouty lips, just listening to line delivery... well she is better than many but not good enough for a 300 to 350 million dollar film. She does fill out a full length satin dress very well, however.

Christoph Waltz as Blofeld, Blofeld? really, fuckers were spitting on Donald Pleasence, but Waltz is better than Telly Savalas' portrayal. But seeing Christoph pull off such a menacing Nazi in Inglourious Basterds and then walk through Django Unchained and then sleep walk through Spectre... I was cheated. He just didn't pull off menacing. He just didn't.

Daniel Craig, when he said "Do I look like I give a fuck?" when asked shaken or stirred in his first Bond appearance, I was riveted. When he warned Madeline not to look, he didn't believe the line and neither did I. And the lack of reaction from Madeline herself made it clear she didn't believe it either.

A little on special effects, the only one that really bothered me was the airplane chase. Compare Bond chasing the bad guy on the train in the second Craig venture. Bond gets shot, I felt the bullet. Now Bond not only lands a plane on one vehicle, tail gate crashes into the second vehicle, and then after the plane crashes through a building wrecks the third vehicle... none of that was as exciting as my retelling now. Craig did little acting in that sequence. He did bounce up and down pretty well.

Finally, all the references to his history in the first three films... maybe if I hadn't fallen asleep earlier, would have made more sense. It seemed contrived and provided little to the story. If it was to illustrate the emotions and conflicts of Bond, it missed the mark.

And lastly, Bond facing his legacy of killing, chases down Waltz/Blofeld and spends a minute deciding to shoot or not. While, Madeline looks on in what must be supposed, because you see little concern on her face regarding whether Bond is the man for her or not. Bond then turns away and walks towards Madeline and tosses his PPK aside. It would have worked if the characters had invested in their characters, but to me, they didn't

Those movies are so excruciatingly boring. It was herculean trying to get through Quantum of Solace, and I failed. I'd rather watch Melissa McCarthy read a paper for two hours.

Sorry that I'm posting on this thread as it is primarily a film thread. Yet, I'm wondering who else is watching The Walking Dead?  I'm trying to look through the board for a thread on it.

I used to live in Glendale, AZ. Less than a block away was a movie theatre. I saw that classic film on its opening day.

You lucky bastard. For both living so close to a theater and for seeing Laserblast as it was meant to be seen.

I hope you stole a lobby card.

The only thing better than living that close to a movie theater in those days was living in a trailer park that jutted up alongside a Drive In theater and secretly running a speaker line across/under the fence.

Not that I know anyone who did that in Russellville, Arkansas.

I'm pretty sure the new Star Wars movie is actually Laserblast Redux.

Richard Deakins!

The man, the master. An extraordinary DP  and the artistry in his work over the years is what film making students aspire to.

Each frame, shot is a fucking work of art.

Earned his 10th Oscar Nom  for Skyfall in Cinematography.

Google his name and body of work.

I would agree my dear that the cinematography was great.  :)  My prob really was with the script (after the opening third which I thought was a great setup).

Yeah...Various components at play and considering them all in a film. For example, I recently saw The Experimenter. I've been waiting for the release. Peter Sarsgaard is impeccable as always. Ryder is tolerable. Interesting subject matter which is of Stanley Milgram's experiments. Yet, this film has a distinct style in direction (Michael Almereyda) which only a percentage may appreciate. Almereyda has a signature look and directorial choices...stylish and quirky. Almost an experimental theater approach.  Not everyone's cup of tea. I found it intriguing and liked it. Yet, wouldn't recommend it as a film to run out and see in the theater.

Yes.  For whatever reason, three points keep coming to mind:

The Tibetan monks creating the sand mandala.

What Doug did to "Cassie."

Underwood asking "What are you looking at?"

(Also, when Underwood was typing the notification letter about the Navy SEAL who died in "training," did you notice the typewriter brand?)

It's been a while as I watched in back in April once it was released. Details are fuzzy. Overall, wasn't impressed with this season.

Currently watching Sons of Anarchy again.
