I think it's good that he left.  It's allowing other hosts and programs to evolve into better programs.  He in some ways was holding the network back...I think anyway. Unbelievable he would think he is a fraction of the host Art is.  It sounds like he feels he's in competition with Art. Ha!  That makes me laugh!!!  ::) ;D

Agree.

I have more of a problem with his fan base actually. Its like Jerry Springer fans believing he should get a Emmy Award yearly for his breathtaking TV show!

After all these years, NO ONE has even touched Art Bells legacy in radio. Lots of pretenders out there, but no one able to pick up where Art left off, except Art Bell. That's the truth.

Zack

The thing that surprised me when he had his DMRN show, was when his call system messed up.  He would have to reboot his computer on air and the listener would have to wait for it to come back online.

I see today that Keith Rowland has finally posted details about Jimmy Church's Fade to Black show leaving the Dark Matter Radio Network:

Fade to Black

It seems the right time to set the record straight regarding Jimmy Church leaving Dark Matter Radio Network.

First of all, while Fade to Black was the most popular show on the network, Jimmy was not a “sit-in” for Art Bell. In fact Art Bell never heard of Jimmy, never asked him to sit in, nor ever contacted or talked to Jimmy in his entire tenure on DMRN, except for one conference call discussing Jimmy’s appearance on C2C. Art has never listened to Jimmy Church and has no idea what kind of show he does.

It appears to us, that ever since Jimmy’s one-time “DMRN Promoting” appearance on C2C and was asked to decide between continuing on DMRN or going over to C2C, he was planning to leave DMRN, and never discussed this with me. Jimmy just called up one Sunday night and told me he wanted to move to Spreaker, eventually iHeart and Coast 2 Coast. He felt that was a way for him to further his career. I agreed it would be good for him, but wished he gave me a chance to fill the large void he would leave in the schedule.

We talked about a 2-4 week transition period. Which if the move was kept secret, would work, but since Jimmy wanted to use our station to promote his move, and would be announcing his upcoming change to iHeart / Clear Channel and eventual appearance on Coast to Coast, there was no way I could ethically continue his show on DMRN. I left it up to him to decide. He could wait until he had more prepared for his move and continue on DMRN, while I too prepare for replacement shows. Jimmy decided to announce his move on his website that night. So he decided to leave us in a predicament, we did not boot him off.

If you hear any other statements that you may question the validity of (and there are), regarding this matter, please don’t hesitate to contact us, so we can set the record straight.

"I left it up to him to decide."

Boy. That sure has a ring of familiarity to it.

"Art has never listened to Jimmy Church and has no idea what kind of show he does."

And why is that really relevant to anything? It's like some sort of passive aggressive attempt at being dismissive of this JC guy. I mean... so what. Art never listened to him. OK. And?

I think it's because JC has said that he's had lots of talks with the Big Guy himself. Setting the record straight?

JC really did often talk like he and Art were BFF. He is all about creating illusion of status and self promotion, soooooooooooo......

well, i don't listen to jimmy church.  never have, and i have no idea exactly what he said about his relationship with art or the context of anything he did say... but again, so what.  why does this stuff constantly get hashed out in public?  who cares if people think jc talked to art and he really didn't.  it doesn't matter, and it assigns more importance to jc than he's due.   waaaaaaaaay more.  i mean... really... jimmy f-ing church?  nobody knows who this douche is.  he's a nobody.  this is a record that didn't need straightening.

a neckbeard webmaster with asperger syndrome shouldn't be handling PR.  he's demonstrated himself to be utterly inept at this on multiple occasions, and i hate seeing one of the greatest talk show hosts of all time getting this sort of low rent public representation on his website, twitter, facebook, and elsewhere.  it's a fucking joke.

I understand 'setting things straight', but if I had been the one standing near Art's desk when the idea of publicly posting this came up, I'd have said, "Give that jerk precisely no air time, and let's get back to dialing in the bumper music."

We're nobodies.  What do we know?  But, Art is better than this.  This is his way of distancing himself, cool, but he could have said nothing and accomplished the job just as easily.

I see Keith has a posting, well it's true, other then talking to Jimmy Church one time on the phone when he said it would be a one time thing (going on coast) I have never spoken to the guy and sure never heard his show. He seems to think we shared the same Birth Canal or something based on what he has been telling people.

i'm sure chuuuch reads this forum religiously, and i'll bet he's reaching for the lubriderm tonight.

IMHO this makes Keith look worse than Church.

I was called by a guest I had on my show last year because JC contacted him a day after we had him on, and he had never heard of JC. My friend who's name I won't reveal because I don't want to drag his name into this but he calls me and asks me if this JC  guy is on the level because he was sounding a little off. He told my friend that he was "holding ART'S spot keeping the seat warm until Art returns, and that he's Art's Heir apparent." JC is so full of himself.. He's full of himself, and he even went as far as to say that he decided to get involved in radio when Art Retired because he wanted to fill the void left by Art. I mean really JC? So his plan was all along to replace Art on C2C? Looks like he finally got his wish he had to kiss George Noorys anus to get there. He will probably end up backstabbing Noory to take his spot next. JC is all about JC, and he doesn't care who he backstabbs along the way.

That's just another story that doesn't quite add up. I thought he said he got into sports radio when he graduated school?  Also, which one retirement are we talking about?

I don't think they really have any long term plans for JC over at coast. He may think he is going to get some place over there, but IMO like his true value to them is just a tool to try and get under Art's skin. They'll keep him as long as he has some effectiveness in that area. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't guest hosting all that much (which he hasn't) then they suddenly have him on more when Art's new show kicks off :P

Now that's the second funniest thing I've read today.

I'm still trying to figure out whom or what a Jimmy Church is. The name makes me think fast food restaurant?

I agree, I don't think thats why he got into radio, but I also think he did say that to his friend and probably several other people. That makes it worse.
