Why does Art care about the pirated streams so much?

From what I gather, there is no need to subscribe to Sirius if you can listen for free. It also means less people are listening live, which means less people are calling in.

Everyone is ticked off and with good reason. The way this all came down was poorly done.  It's just too bad. The question I had for Art is how he expects to regain his base by alienating it with this decision. If he streams online brought his website or another service will anyone follow if they feel they will just get burned again?

I for one will listen to anything he does that is free.  I will never again spend money to listen to Art, unless he comes back to Sirius before my subscription runs out.

I disagree. I think people like myself, that are quite angry over this, are entirely representative of his fans feelings on this. Hi Dan,

We've been working with the streaming issues from the first wave
of complaints from listeners.  Via email, the boards and Wormhole posts.
We noticed in the first week of programming.

As for planning or considering this in advance,
Ending the program was not
something he wanted to do nor planned to do.   

For the pirated streams:
One would think that a company that based it's revenues on
a subscription based biz model would want to shut down the
pirates.  If not, then why not allow Art to stream the program
for free on his dime?   

I don't know.
