Who should run in 2016 and became the next prez? I don't know who should run. I don't what a Clinton or a Bush. I'm looking at a third party ie the Libertarian Party.

With what we have now, I would relish a Clinton or Bush senior type candidate.

Until we get rid of gerrymandering and have campaign finance reform we will continue to get candidates that have little interest in governing.

I would love to see a third party gain enough credibility to challenge the two party system. But again until campaign finance reform happens, a snowball... yadda yadda yadda.

I agree about gerrymandering and campaign finance reform. I have been looking into more of the third parties. I like the Libertarian Party.

There are a few members here that know quite a bit about that party. I think it has been co-opted but then again what party hasn't?

I worry when people advocate 'campaign finance reform'. If they left it up to you, what exactly would you do that would pass constitutional muster ?

Excellent question! I am a hard ass on this stuff. And have thought of several stipulations over the years.

First no more than one televised advertisement and no more than three by radio broadcast per week. No Advertisement over one minute and can only speak to their positions.

All printed material in black ink only.

No more than 300,000 dollars spent on a national campaign. All campaign funds are from deductions made in filing with the IRS.

No personal monies used.

A candidate can "run" 3 times. If not elected that is it, done. If elected can "run" for a total of 5 times.

I have a few more tucked away in the crevices of my brain... maybe later. And yeah I know some of this is extremely limiting and impractical... tough. I am tired of politicians becoming professional campaigners.

Believe me, I share your disgust with the current political scene, but I think most, if not all of your proposals would be found to be unconstitutional. The courts have consistently found that contributing money to political campaigns is a First Amendment right.

As long as we're wishing, though, I would add a provision that no current office holder would be allowed to run for another office, only for re-election to the seat he/she holds. If you're a representative and want to be a senator, you have to resign and sit out one election.

I'm tired of professional politicians.  Here in Florida, we passed term limits, but when the rascals are term-limited, they just switch to another office. As a result, the same clowns are always around.

A noted Atlanta comedian, the late Ludlow Porch, advocated one office, one term and that's it.  Maybe he was onto something.

I think if a third party runs for office, it will make the dems and the reps wake up. I'm no fan of the two major partys at the national and the state level. I think that there is to much "inbreeding" in the two major parties.

Tell that to Ron Paul, Ross Perot, Ralph Nader, Jill Stein, or the other 70+ that have ran as third party candidates.

I like your moxy kid, but a third party needs to invest heavily in local and state elections for several years and build to a presidential candidate with a decent chance of winning. Hell I voted for Stein, and I knew it was not going to happen.

I haven't seen any group with the patience to achieve the goal, the Tea Party might have a chance but they aren't inclusive enough to appeal to a majority.

Yeah definitely need to change the interpretation that money equals free speech. Perhaps it is time to bring out the guillotine.

Now we're getting somewhere

I'm old and tired.  Let's just give it to Hillary now and get it over with.  Save everyone a lot of money.  Skip a lot of arguing.  We could even start complaing about/admiriring the job she's doing and not have to wait until 2017.

Can she start Monday?  I think we've all had enough of Hussein, who due to his training and worldview is either doing nothing or the wrong thing.

Prez Obama and the congress are wasting our hard earned money. That is why I think we should bring in new people in that are apart of the two major parties. Both of the major parties are bad. We should bring in new people who will not waste our hard earned money that we pay in taxes.
