Our C2C affiliate (WJIM 1240AM) stopped carrying Coast as of last night, replacing it with something called Redeye Radio. Two guys talking with callers (no guests). It's sort of John and Jeff For Hillbillys, only the Redeye guys' voices aren't as annoying. All the advertising is aimed toward long-haul truckers.

Last night was five hours of 'discussion' about gasoline prices and whether Obama or Santorum was the most Christian-y (turns out to be Santorum). I worry about this country sometimes.

I didn't ever think I would contact a radio station and request that they carry C2C, but that's on my agenda for today.

Interesting that, as a distant observer, I keep getting mixed up between Santorum and Sandusky.
Coincidence sandwich, anyone?

It was called "Midnight Trucker" up until a month ago. It's Tea Party retardation at it's worst,and yes, Noory's disaster is actually a better show than this shit.

The lesser of two evils..hate that choice.

Easy. Kids should be afraid of Sandusky; Santorum, adults.

because they're more tolerant of Catholics than black people. In case you're wondering

Same thing happened in my market. I don't care. I don't listen to either, but I'm glad Noory is off the radio. I hope this means Art might have a chance to come back. That was just for Eddie Coyle.

I listened to it last night out of curiosity.  It's not so much BAD as it is BORING.  The two hosts sound like a couple of nondescript morning radio guys who somehow got in with the trucker crowd.  Looks like my local station (WGN, which is a big deal) has Coast for just two hours followed by these guys.  I have to wonder if the trucker crowd who liked Art so much back in the day is now fleeing to these guys out of frustration with Noory.

So Stevesh, did you end up contacting the station... what happened??

"Trucker radio," huh?   It could be edgy and esoteric ~ "Hidden History Of The 53-Foot Trailer,"  right?    Naaah....

Not too long ago, fineartstream played an old show where Art was opining around these ideas.   He was expressing doubts as to whether truckers even like or want "trucker radio," which Art characterized as being "country music and weather and traffic reports from 1000 miles from wherever you are."   He opened a line for truckers to call in and tell whether they really like "trucker radio" or (and ya didn't see this coming, did ya?) whether they prefer shows like...his.   And in that informal poll of people listening to his show -- who do you suppose won?   Self serving, sure.   But it made what I think was a good point.

I understand anyone who might feel instinctive giddy joy at seeing NoorCoast bite the dust in any small form.   But I'm not so sure that the average listener, out there in the radio wasteland of middle America at night, and who isn't personally interested in the ruination of Noory, is necessarily well served by a network dropping "Coast," which -- at best -- is "reliably semi-interesting radio hosted by an idiot."

This is exactly what's wrong with America right now. So afraid to take a stand and fight for home grown  American QUALITY! Might as well sell the show to China and be hosted by Han Tang Zhongguo.They will never change if they keep making money. I hope more radio stations including mine will take it off the air until the fat cats realize they need to do better.

You're exactly right (but I don't know how China got into this  :o ??? ::) )
Unfortunately, the fat cats have no idea what good, edgy, atmospheric overnight radio is.  Bet your last money that they don't stay up and listen, and aren't the kind of people who'd "get it" anyway.   Instead of fixing a sinking "Coast" by meaningful change, they'll just ditch the show altogether and re-run daytime Republican talk.

I did - no response. I also contacted a few of the station's major local advertisers, with the same result. My business responds to every email, phone call or letter, no matter what.
