It's a transitionary phase and people were calling in expressing their support for Heather. It will pass and the calls won't always be like that.

Outside of Art-  and possibly Redacted, nobody should have their feelings hurt over the crap posted on this forum- and if you can explain why that statement is wrong, I would love to hear it.  (Possibly George Noory- and as much as it pains me to say this- he handled himself damn well for his time around this forum.)  If you are going to get your feelings hurt because somebody says that Art lied or because some jackass on the internet questions your intelligence for believing Art, then I don't know what to say.  I have maintained from the start that I do believe him (or at least have no reason to disbelieve him despite the crap that people keep posting.)  Yet, somehow have avoided feeling hurt because of what a troll happens to post.

As for "needless harm" I again question what harm was done by DP aside from putting a 20 year old bit of crap out there.  Yes, Art probably was not happy to be reminded of it.  The people attacking Heather- no problem.  Those attacking Art should be beat to within an inch of their lives.  I just find the disconnect interesting.

As I said- I generally avoid trolling.  I suppose I knew when I said that I did not consider DP to the be devil incarnate that I would elicit this general response.  Yet I still did not feel the need to avoid posting my thoughts.  Call it trolling if you wish- I call it being honest.

This may have been a "special case" because Art and Heather were posters here and it would have been nice if people did not show their shitty sides (I really don't care what you think of me- I did manage to avoid that and had only posted positive comments towards both of them.)  Now that they are gone, I am really not going to get worked up over the posts of the remaining dozen or so people who still want to troll. I will continue to post that I wish both Red and Art well, and enjoy the shows and will choose when / if I engage somebody who disagrees.

I'll try and simplify this because it seems like you're tangled up in your own underwear. That's not an insult -- that is just how these posts of yours appear to me. Confused logic, skewed values and an inability to see with perspective what the issue is and to judge it reasonably.

Trolling is wrong. That's a moral judgement which is shared by all conscientious adults, although nobody is forcing you to join that group. To the extent that this major, self-admitted troll or any minor troll targets Art or any other person for malicious reasons, that is wrong. Also, defending such trolling is wrong.

You'll notice that the key word here is "wrong." And in a world that's increasingly morally relativistic, that might seem like a worthless, irrelevant anachronism. However, some of us still know what it means and how it applies to various unsavory forms of human behavior. You don't appear to have arrived at that level of wisdom yet, but I would hope that you have plenty of time to get there.

In the end, discussions like this one almost always get down to core values and how people choose to apply them. Unfortunately, Internet forums are an insufficient platform for coming to a meeting of the minds when there are so few shared understandings and so little common ground as between the two of us. That's the best I can explain it or the most I have the energy for.

I suppose we can at least agree on that part... Which is good, because I was getting as worn out from this conversation as you.  As for the rest of it- I'm old enough that I doubt I will learn the "proper" morals or, necessarily, share your values.  I have been around the net for a couple of decades and simply have learned to live with trolls as I have lived almost exclusively on unmoderated (or nearly unmoderated) forums.

For some poor examples of trolling, you can look above.  One of the reasons I didn't get too upset was that Art is a legend.  In the radio hall of fame, built and sold C2C, and has been a public person for decades.  He will be fine- and I hope he can return here once crap settles down in a few months (yeah, it will be months before people actually get bored at the rate we are going.)  I'm sure Red will be fine as well- but trolling somebody who did not ask to be in the spotlight is crap- and that is the difference between DP and many of the others.
