That's not why.  It wasn't about not being able to take words back that were spoken under emotional duress.  People would have been understanding about that. 

It's that so many times over the years your answer to issues you've faced has been to just up and quit.  Or threaten to quit.  With Midnight in the Desert alone you threatened to quit twice before it even started (at least once over the bumper music, and once over a misunderstanding with Keith), and again early on (for some unfathomable reason you decided to inform the listeners you'd quit if doing the show were to put your family in danger). 

What you've seen these past days is the result of a cumulative effect, not the result of a few words spoken in haste.

This time, regardless of the reason, your first reaction being to quit a show - yet again - for some it was finally just too much.  To some your record of doing this doesn't make sense, so they tried to figure out what did make sense

I’m really glad you wrote in Art, even though the disappointment in your post is palpable and crushing.  But it was well thought-out and from the heart, true to character, and that’s why so many of us are genuinely concerned about your safety and happiness, and come here hoping to hear from you while expressing our support for you and Heather.

Please try to realize that looking at the totality of the posts here as a gauge of your overall fan base is a terrible mistake.  We’re individuals, and it looks to me like a majority of the posters here (and this is even more true of those who were around before all this started) are loyal, intelligent, compassionate supporters who only want to see everyone get through this dark time and hopefully even get back to the happy business of enjoying a great broadcasting experience with you.  On the other extreme, there are 12-16 posters who have been working around the clock to fill this thread with various levels of hate speech â€" I suppose they’re drawn here because this is one of the few places they can say really nasty things without being censured.  Most of them appear to be frustrated and angry 13-year-old boys, and a few are just sociopaths and simpletons. You certainly don’t owe them any explanations at all.  The rest of us don’t even need any: we’ve always valued your honesty and candid sincerity, and we always will.  Only innately suspicious people who don’t know your work seem to question your honesty.

Your real fans don’t care what’s been said before and will never hold you to tragic statements about leaving your show or BellGab and facebook for good, or “one last post” or anything like that.  We miss you and we’re always happy to hear from you.  Anyone who feels differently can go suck lemons.

I’m glad you and your family are okay, and that there haven’t been any more terrifying incidents at your home.  I hope it says that way, and I hope that somehow that cowardly rat gets caught.

I tried to call in for the first time the other night when Heather was inundated with those 4chan idiots but I didn’t get through.  A few good callers did though.  I guess that most people with a life are occupied with holiday preparations and travel.  We’ll keep trying to help; you and Heather are both good people and we love what you do and want it to see the show survive and thrive.

I know. It's just that I don't think any of the "Noory might not be as good as Art but at least he's reliable" comments are winning anyone over. Of course Art Bell fans hate that he's not on the air. We're still not motivated anymore by that to give Noory another try though. There are a lot of shows to choose from in the genre now and in talk radio in general. I'll listen to Art if he comes back on but in the meantime there are plenty of non-Noory related shows to choose from
