I have to agree this thread has taken on a weird vibe. Just because Art & wife are talking about landscaping and selling off some stuff doesn't mean one way or another about Art's return to radio, if at all.

It appears people are reading too much into too little and making assumptions off the little snippets of info being posted on their Farcebook pages.

Just remember the case of Fort Rock - folks shouldn't follow his bad example of leaping to incredible conclusion with near zero facts.

If you're not interested, that's fine, but there's nothing creepy about reading somebody's public statements and reposting it for others who may be interested.  STOP READING NOW becaue I'm going to post another tidbit:

Asia is LOVING Nevada because she likes the running-around spaces and loves horses!  I'm hoping they will get her a pony and lots of other pets and she can have the freedom that children enjoy when they live on their own land in the wide open spaces.  Imagine what it must be like to be a child today in the city.  The parents can't leave them alone.  Literally, my grandchildren can't go out in their own front yard without an adult (guard).  I treasure the wandering-around my neighborhood I did as a child.  We all played in the streets--I look around and children are no longer visible in suburbia.  Like they were all sucked away by some invisible force.  Then you go to the "bad" side of town and there are all the kids out playing.  You realize it is technology.  The good side of town has computers and the kids are using it instead of playing. 

Strange childhood indeed.  I wonder what missing out on normal neighborhood child playing will have on their development.

Thing is, if a new thread were started, it would split up what otherwise is a really entertaining read. Wouldn't deliver the same fun factor for someone who chooses to read the thread from beginning to end (while under the necessary levels of heavy opiates, of course).

But... I understand why you say what you say here, and I must confess, I was tired of the cryptic stuff from Art on this subject LONG ago.

back in the 90s i was working on getting a ham license.  i think it was like 1995 or 1994.  anyway, then my buddy showed me a really crude VOIP application on his computer, and i was communicating with voices all over europe and elsewhere in the world.  suddenly, ham radio didn't seem interesting any longer.  i mean, with the internet, you could talk to people all over the world in perfect clarity without purchasing thousands of dollars worth of equipment and/or antennas.  just needed a dialup connection.  i haven't looked back, tbh. 


in 30 years, there will be absolutely no point in getting a ham license because most of the other hams will be dead and gone.  i'd love to see a graph of the age of the average ham user each year over the last 60 years.  i'm sure it would be a continual rise, but i'll bet the curve would shoot straight up in the late 1990s.  wikipedia says the average age in some countries is over 60.


i'm not glad ham is dying.  it's sad to me.  it's just the way things are, though.  something better came along and replaced it.

I think Art has washed his hands of Coast but I wouldn't be too surprised to find out he's planning a weekly podcast. Just a hunch.

I agree it seems unlikely that Art will ever be part of Coast again.  It's damaged goods now, and I wouldn't touch it if I were him.

My hope is that Art will come up with any kind of alternative to Noory's trainwreck.

It is my opinion that Mr. Bell WILL return to AM radio with another syndicator.

Bell sold out to Premiere Networks so why in the world would he return as an employee?

I don’t care what GN says… he might have a contract until the End of Time.  Once his ratings drop he will be “Out of There”… a new host will be hired to replace him… and GN will be paid the remaining balance of his contract and he will finally be gone.

In response to other comments made.  I qualify.  I am an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator (KL7 = Alaska and live in Las Vegas and have listened to Bell nightly pre-1990!).

If you have scorn… don’t go after GN.  Go after Management 101 who lets him (GN) continue!

Take your issues with Mr. George to a higher level.

Bell will be back but not as before.
