Susan B. Komen

I you got talked into donating to Susan B. Komen you got taken. Did your Nigerian banker friend offer to sell some ribbons?

Not a post from you in three years and correcting someone about a G over a B is your Cast Away signal fire?

Very strange, Pertzgorn.

The display of extremely controlled interaction is somewhat impressive, but is outweighed by the strangeness.

Then again, four (or more?) kids eat a lot of time. Maybe it feels more like six months than three years.

Art's return is like a bizarre foghorn of induction...

But instead of an impulse to build replicas of Devil's Tower, WY, it's a call to post.

I just hope like hell Anagrammy is hearing the notes, too.

Sorry to shine a flashlight on the elephant in the room but I think if you read the context of the post carefully, coaster was actually criticizing that charity . . .

Vanity and fear. These are the weapons that keep women supporting charities like Komen (Susan B  ;D). I'm not a woman, but I can empathise, by imagining a woman's fear of losing her breasts. Some women may consider losing her breast the death of her identity as a woman. My understanding of statistics related to breast cancer -very survivable with early detection. Be well.  :)

I for one am very relieved this atrocity has been corrected. I couldn't get a wink of sleep last night thinking about this 'G' typo. And that is even AFTER I ate my mashed potato replica of Devil's Tower. Usually I fall right asleep after eating so many potatoes.

I don't currently have a cat.  Or should I say a cat doesn't have me.  As a child, my family usually had a cat, even if it was just a stray we fed.  I've always admired cats for their independent nature.  They're pretty darn cool.

I'll think of two cat eyes shining in the night as a tribute to Yetti, when I admire Jupiter and Venus tonight.

Very poetic. I second the motion because, thankfully, the skies are clear here for the first time in days.

Art,
Sorry to hear about the passing of your cat.  It is always difficult to lose a pet. Pets really are an integral part of the family, giving their unconditional love and companionship.
Remember the good times.

Oh...isn't that a lovely thought? I think I will do the same....Venus and Jupter; the eyes of all the pets we've ever loved.

*getting verklempt now* talk amongst yourselves.

That is a lovely thought. I'll be doing the same.

I have a cat the same age and she's been with me through the best and worst of times and never judges. Can't get that from a human.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Art.  RIP Yetti.

k...something a little strange going on here, maybe you folks have some ideas about what it is.

About two nights ago, my spouse and I were out having a smoke late at night (around 2am) out on our patio. We saw a very unusual light in the sky, it was small white and would from time to time turn completely ruby red. It moved very strangely...it was stationary for a few minutes then would very suddenly jerk over by about an inch (that is, about an inch if you held your thumb up to the sky right at the object). Then it would kind of meander a bit and turn from red to white and back again...then it slowly moved to behind a tree so that we couldn't see it anymore. In between each movement it was stationary, which made the whole thing even weirder.

K...skip to last night, late again (around 11:30pm) and I was sitting at my computer, as you do. And from behind me I heard a strange rhythmic beeping sound. It came from right outside the window behind me, which was open but had blinds closed over the open window so I couldn't really see out). I turned around and listened to the beeping for a second...it sound like something was right outside my window. When I got up to take a look, it suddenly.....and I mean suddenly....was beeping from way far away (it sounded like it was outside the window with one beep and then with the next it was about half a block away...just in an instance. Then, I heard the beeping at a great distance.

Could this have been a drone? What does a drone look like? Is it red and white lights? Could it move that fast to be a beeping object at the window?

Any ideas? Getting a bit afraid to go outside at night now. lol

The light in theory could have been a drone or a Chinese lantern moving around in the wind, but that doesn't seem satisfying to me based on what you said. The beep probably was not a drone if it was just outside your window, you would have heard the fan blades, they're pretty loud on the drones I've seen.

Yes, I thought it was very bizarre I didn't hear anything else. Just that beep about every second or so. And it seemed to blink away in an instance....like, gone. But, you know, if it was something weird...why would it beep? If it wanted to remain hidden? I had the feeling of some kind of question feeling, like an introduction or something. Hard to explain.

I thought about getting my cell phone...but it all happened so fast, and in the moment you are kind of just experiencing it. Besides, I think all you would see in a picture would be a light in the sky at a distance. I will keep my cell phone with me whenever I go out for a smoke at night now, though. Maybe I can get a picture.

Wow, good sighting! Keep looking for it and keep a camera ready. Write down the details of as much as you can remember for future reference. Keep an eye on local news for reports of others who've seen it. Ask Nancy what else to do.

The beeps are just weird. It does sound a little like maybe something went by overhead. I'm thinking either one could've been a drone. I'm surprised there haven't been more ufo reports that've turned out to be drones. Where's Nancy?

Geez, you may end up with your very own pet UFO. How cool would that be? I would keep a camera on hand and charged up today just in case there's a repeat performance.

Does Nancy know about drones? When I saw it I thought it was something strange. I even said 'I think we are witnessing something quite unusual'. My spouse was the one that thought perhaps it was a drone. To me, it didn't seem that way at all. The thing that was odd, is that it seemed to react to what I was thinking.....it moved away when I said, 'Geez...what the heck is that?' Then it went behind a tree, almost purposefully....at least, it felt that way.

And the beeping? Just too weird. I keep trying to think of what it could be, but it was too weird to be anything I know of.
