He divorced his first wife (according to his Wikipedia page  : ) in 1968.  Are you suggesting that Heather is supposedly in her late 40's?  Forget the fact that his ex was Japanese, and forget the fact that she doesn't sound "half Asian"..  does she really sound like she's in her late 40's? Maybe 30's...

My old college proff is from NorCal, and his wife is Japanese, and their children are half Asian.. and I would imagine, having been raised in NorCal, they don't sound "Asian", either..  However, when you have a parent who is born in Asia, and comes to America with an "accent", don't you think the children have the potential to pick up on that? Possibly have a slight accent, or certain linguistic tendencies, inflections, etc..  It's not 100%, I would guess, but possible?

Margaret Cho was recently in a documentary I watched about people who sound gay.  She said that when her parents came to the USA, they made it a point to drop their accent, in order to fit in.. that sounding Korean was shameful for them.. and obviously she does not have any accent at all. She could be a "Valley Girl".

This is not new info.  Her age is on her BellGab profile as well as all of this info being mentioned on the show. I neither know nor care if Heather Wade is her name.  None of this affects anyone's enjoyment or dislike of the show.

As for the part in bold, I hate the whole "PC" thing, myself.  That said, I wouldn't care if Heather was a gorilla.    (I come from a mixed background, though not Asian. I tend not to worry about stuff like that.  I just think it's ridiculous that it's somehow an issue for people. Not you, but some).
