George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No

The show is a RIP OFF for dumb people to get poorer trying these dumb cures. SNAKE OIL.
George is breaking the law asking for money. He is not a charity, and sounds like a scam to rip people off. I think I will complain again to the local station. This has to stop.Maybe the IRS will step in. I hope.
And George does not listen. He wings it. He is a dope! A fake and a con artist.

Quacks are the one element of C2CAM that genuinely enrages me. Everything else is stupid, but whatever.

Quote from: WikipediaIn 2007, Kim Tinkham, diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, adopted Young's protocols before appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show. She enthusiastically promoted them on her website "cancerangel.org". A 2008 press release from Young contained her assertion that she was "cancer free by all medical terms" as diagnosed by her own doctors. Young was criticized following Tinkham's death of cancer on December 7, 2010.

Quote from: CrabbyOld Bat on February 06, 2013, 02:17:10 AMTonight's main guest is "Doctor" Robert O. Young. As usual, Snorge's show prep must have been non-existent since he missed the fact that the "doc" isn't even a real medical doctor. He took a correspondence course from a credential-mill college that has since shut down. Worse, some of the "advice" this quack has given is flat-out wrong and potentially dangerous.

Bless you. I'm so glad to see someone pick up the mantle of the Jorch Torch by investigating these charlatans. It gets lonely out here sometimes.

Yes.  Remember Rush is their primary talent and he calls his listeners "dittoheads."  What could be more condescending than telling someone he will think for them, which is what that means.  Only simpletons listen to Rush and Coast anymore.

...not that you're biased or anything.

Anyone else notice how many times tonight George repeatedly insisted that while he lost a lot of weight due to this miracle diet, he was NOT "heavy" or (God forbid) "obese"?  That was hilarious.

He seems to be terrified of being mistaken for FAT.

Very nicely done.  ;D

More people should learn the basics of blood chemistry and pH, and how relatively difficult it is to be abnormal (assuming absence of disease and major issues), as the body magnificently self-regulates by a myriad of mechanisms, which keep us remarkably in a "normal" range. The "diet" stuff is all bullshit.

A nice simply layman's read on blood pH is here:

You've missed badly. While I haven't listened to Rush Limbaugh for more than 1 minute at a time since the 90's, I know for years one of his major points was his explicit insistence that his listeners think for themselves. This was a point he made constantly, saying his job was to inform and entertain, not command. He repeatedly said it was up to listeners to draw their own conclusions.

And "Dittohead" arose at least by the early 90's as a shorthand, time-saving way for callers to quickly say that they were loyal listeners who loved the show, etc. etc0 so that they could get on with the purpose of the call and not waste time in empty praise. And for Limbaugh's famous healthy ego, he's the only talk show host I'm aware of who has taken steps to silence caller praise and get on with the issues; as opposed to, say, George Noory, who can lap it up the stroking with every call.

But then what's so unusual about anyone tuning in to hear a message they find gratifying? I've never understood why anyone would regularly listen to a political talk radio show with which they substantially disagreed. It's just crazy-making.

Back to work on my Mitch Battros Fraud exposé...

Thanks. I have a medical background (not a doc, but a medical information specialist) so I HATE when quacks are promoted on C2C. I'm extremely open-minded about alternative medicine so it's not that I think only licensed medical physicians who practice modern "western medicine" have anything worthwhile to say. But crackpots spewing ridiculous promises, worthless guarantees and making claims of miracle cures that have no sound science to support them are something altogether different.

So far I've sent two angry FastBlasts and one scathing email tonight. I don't expect a response to any of them but sending them made me feel better.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading your Mitch Battros info. Good luck and thank you in advance for your efforts.  8)

I should have everything ready by tomorrow night.

Teaser: Battros has a history of begging/pleading for money for personal use going back 5 years.
Just in case the Ft.Rock episode did not teach me the lesson... remind me not to get on your bad side.

I know it may be wrong, but I kind of hope to see Noory start his magnanimous spectacle of giving back to his listeners with a quick donation of $5000 to Battros to cover the difference between the goal and the funds raised so far.  It seem only fair that the guy who gives him the platform to publicly ask for donations makes one himself... and it ties directly into Georges latest promise to start tossing his riches around.

Oh yes. I'm particularly irked by the medical conspiracy theorists who would have us believe that scores, if not thousands, of physicians and medical professionals are somehow able to sit on miracle cures for profit. You know the spiel: it's the fault of the the closed medical fraternity, the old boys network, who are somehow emotionally able to see their own own family members suffer and die just to keep the stock value up on their super secret holdings in the deadly pharma company which is hiding the cure to whatever disease the conspiracy wanker is telling us he can cure for $39.95 plus S&H.

... Why is he suddenly obssessed with Ariel Sharon and his comma toes? Glynis actually corrected his pronunciation, which prompted sNoory to try to correct her pronunciation of Sharon's name. Nothing to do with pronunciation, in fact, just one of Doughboy's ludicrous accents which just involved rolling every available 'r'.

... informing us that he has a 'major speech' to deliver in the 'second week of Feb'. Major speech? From a man who can't pronounce the months of the year? Who does he think he is, anyway, with his major speeches? The fucking President?...

Any more news on George's upcoming Major Speech?  I wonder if he's emphasizing foreign policy, or if he'll address domestic policy and the economy as well.

Or was this just another lie that went down the rabbit hole as soon as the show ended?

Just an unimportant  factoid: the LD50 of NaHCO3 in mice, if correlated to humans means that, if a 200 pound person ingested ~10.5 ounces-16 ounces (the data varies) of NaHCO3, you'd have a 50% chance of dying.

Guess eating that box might not help you live forever after all.

Thanks for all the laughs - the board has been golden lately.

As usual, I only tuned in for a short bit and it sounds like it was a classic C2C show with Dr. Baking Soda.  I was only able to catch the tail end but was not disappointed when a caller wanted to know how to get the doctor's books when she had no computer. (Run for your life girlfriend!!!!) Well Snoorz had the brilliant idea that she could go hear him speak if only Dr. BS was speaking somewhere...  OMG turns out he will be at the same quackfest the Snoorz is emceeing a panel!!!!  They launch into a whole "have your people call my people" forgetting the caller in the process.  She seems to have been hung up on.  Dr BS offers to send her a pamphlet but she is long gone.

Similarly, a pain ridden double amputee is dispatched.  Dr. BS told him to drink vegetable juice so his shit would be smooth.  Unreal - no?

Tonight's suckage meter:  Pegging the red zone.  Head exploding level suckage.

WOTR

While looking at the good doctor (who, apparently claims to be a direct descendant of Brigham Young) I found the next guest for George!  Andreas Moritz wrote a book titled Cancer is not a disease- it is a survival mechanism in which he makes great claims and says that cancer is on our side- not against us and that It is important to know that cancer rarely causes someone to die, although it undeniable that many people afflicted with cancer also die. (I will have to check that Bharbra really did die last week as her daughter assures me that cancer was the cause of her wasting away in the hospice...)  I am not certain that Bharbra would have agreed with the authors assertion when he proposes the understanding that cancer is a healing process that we ought to support, not suppress or fight.

I know this is somewhat unrelated to the current cancer quack that George chose to offer a national platform to, but I just got sick of looking at Young and thought that it could be really refreshing for George to offer that platform to yet another cancer quack who will tell us to not only stop with traditional cancer treatments but to stop fighting it altogether and just embrace it as a good way to heal.  I am seriously considering emailing the producer and suggesting this author as a guest.

I did not listen to tonight's show as I cannot do Georges cancer shows without wishing the disease on George and I am too at peace with myself tonight to go there; though wishing a sudden stroke does not seem to unbalance me at all. (I am sorry, but the world would be better off without somebody doing the harm that George does on these so called health shows he does.)

sleeplessinca

The show is so depressing tonight.  First they discuss the high suicide rate among vets and then give that terrible advice to the amputee.  I really hope vets aren't listening.  Then they diss anti-depressants - which can be very helpful.  They can also give a depressed person enough energy to take action.  Snoorz has to crow about his 9 tears of Navy.  We are so impressed that you sat behind a desk George - something he never mentions.

Oh - about the race horses - I have heard him say he bred them as if he had a whole breeding set-up.  As if!!!!!  I'd bet he had a $2000 investment in a racehorse once or twice.  He probably had the same interest in the restaurant ventures.

If anything ever drives me to violence, it will be encountering one of these shitheads in person.

In case anyone s out there suffering the same way that poor amputee is with neuropathy, I thought I would mention that several people I know with that issue (a common aftermath of chemo) have found relief with medical weed.  Just saying....

This kind of thing drives me crazy.  If you listened to Rush, you would know that "dittoheads" does not refer to Rush thinking for the listener.  It came from a woman caller, many years ago, who called and complemented Rush.  The next caller said, "Ditto what that woman said."  So the "dittos" are not in agreement with Rush, but with a woman who called probably in 1991 or so.

That may be the way you use it and how it developed (see definition 2), but it may not mean that when you say it as the listener may have a different definition (see definition 1 and 3).

Wiktionary

    n. US, slang, pejorative One who agrees with an idea mindlessly, especially those who agree because they are supporters of the person who started the idea.
    n. US, slang Someone who is a fan of Rush Limbaugh's radio program.
    n. US, slang, pejorative A person who agrees with Rush Limbaugh unquestioningly.

And I have listened to Rush, I am an AM radio guy after all.  I find Rush to be wrong on the facts as often as he is right is his spin on those facts is often laughable.  So extreme as to not even be a thought that deserves to be refuted, anyone who thinks should know it is wrong.  Thus, what do I think of his listeners or to anyone who listens to a show on either side of the political spectrum that spews utter crap?  Well, not much.

Okay, I have to wonder about this figure...or at least about the assumptions we and the press are making about it. Is it 22 per day in active military service? I call bullshit on that. That's simply not possible. That's over 8,000 suicides a year and would account for almost 23% of total annual suicides. Impossible. Or is it the 22-per-day figure "veterans"?

There are roughly 35,000 suicides per year in the US. Overall it's a rate of 11 suicides per 100,000 deaths. Age plays a huge factor, as the suicide rate goes up to almost 15 per 100,000 for over-65s, with a huge increase of 47 per 100,000 deaths for over those 85 or over. Poor health and the loss of a spouse appear to be the obvious primary risk factors in the elderly. It seems to me that the 22-per-day figure is more a function of suicides by over-85s who served in WWII than anything else.

I'll respectfully disagree. I hate to keep bringing up the slippery slope, but, civil libertarian (when did that become an epithet?) that I am, there's too small a step between murdering Americans in other countries at the whim of the president without the benefit of due process, and doing so here.

Presumably you wouldn't have any problem with, say, Iran, sending drones to the US to kill Iranians living here they consider dissidents ?

That figure reflects active duty and veterans, combined. Last year there were exactly 349 active duty suicides across all four branches. FAR too many, in my opinion, but not 22 per day. However, one must take into account the increasing numbers of younger vets, recently returned from the Afghan and Iraq theater, that are taking their lives. It truly is heart breaking.
