This post-Connecticut Shooting hour was surreal.  The answer isn't controlling assault weapons, the answer is more guns!!!  Don't worry if you're faced with someone with automatic weapons, you can still get him with your 6 shooter if you sneak up on him, right George?  I always knew the CIA was behind Columbine.

What's wrong with guns?...You sound like an Obama voter...Explain yourself...

Dayum, they are leting the crazy callers on tonight.

If the world keeps going crazy, CC permit here I come......

OMG!!!!!  Georgie thinks he's Elmer Gantry now.   Can he possibly influence some of these simple minded gullible listeners into buying his bullshit?

I didn't hear it, but did John "Eyebrows of a female impersonator" Lott suggest that we start arming pre-schoolers as a preventative?

No, he said teachers should be allowed to carry. A few states allready allow this.

The lengths that Asshole will go to to get people to buy his shit. Amazing

These massacres seem to occur where the cowards know there won't be anyone else with a gun.  Just knowing a few teachers or other staff may have them readily available in locked drawers and have been trained to use them may serve as deterrent.

Beats huddling in a corner totally unarmed.

99.99999% of people could sit in a roomful of guns and never think about killing anyone, so why do some people do it? That is the question for study, not gun control. That is a stupid proposition anyway. Criminals are not going to line up to turn their guns in anyway.

The real question is how many thousnds of times does it take, sitting in front of a video game mindlessly shooting people before it becomes a possibility in vulnerable minds. Without a doubt fantasy can cross into reality. If media had no influence, companies wouldn't spend billions on advertising. Not every person runs out and buys a product because it's on TV, but it's a numbers game. Out of tens of millions, enough are influenced to make advertising worth while.

We have an entire generation that was raised on violence as entertainment, so did we expect that there wouldn't be a percentage for whom killing carries no guilt? It seems counter-intuitive that kids are filled with anti-bullying/anti-violence messages at school and the minute they are at home they are pulling triggers tens of thousnads of times - and being rewarded for their kills. I don't know how anyone can argue that people's minds can be warped by virtual reality.

Now, all we have to hear is that this shooter was a former Marine and the picture will be complete.

Imagine the media frenzy if one of these freaks ever turns out to be an NRA member.

It's interesting that the same people that will do anything to not keep criminals locked up are the same people that want to take guns away from law abiding citizens.  Go figure.

That maybe the best idea Paper boy.  The airlines, after 9/11 armed the pilots and put Air Marshals randomly on flights and it seems to be working.

It could be said that we are takeing part in the study to answer that question, exept no one was asked if they actualy wanted to be part of it.

Yeah,  they buzzed him in because they knew him thru his mother who was a substitute teacher at the same school.

Noory thinks that he would be like " santa bringing in buckets of mail" if he had a physical adress for the luddites of the world to send him mail.....

What an ego.

WOTR

Tonight's jewels included George observing that they will likely have to clean up the school prior to reopening it.  I suppose he is correct... I mean, at least remove the bodies even if you leave the blood spatter prior to letting the surviving elementary kids back into the school.  Idiot.

I also appreciated the good doctor informing us that a man can go his whole life just fine but end up on an antidepressant and suddenly find himself raping women.  I love that it is obvious to him that video games and prescription drugs are the root cause of these shootings.  Hundreds of millions of video games sold (and, as I recall no evidence whatsoever that at least the Columbine shooters were into them) but they must be the cause.  I suppose by this reasoning the fact that these shooters ate at McDonalds in the last year would point to fast food being responsible... It seems like the same faulty reasoning and poor arguments that this doctor is using...

I also appreciate that Coast seems to be the first to cover these massacres in depth.  They seem to know the motivations of the killers and their thoughts the very evening of the shootings.  I am impressed that they are able to find out so much information even before the authorities on the scene are able to piece it together.

There was a Doom connection with the Columbine killer Harris actually getting into the art of fan-made levels for the game... I had to look this up but I remember Doom being tied to those two fuckwads just wasn't sure how.  I'm actually curious as to what his level designs looked like.

If the idiot that pulled the shit yesterday is an FPS fan then rest assured we will probly be seeing some unsuccessful lawsuits against a few video game producers.  I don't know many 16-30 something males who don't have a copy of Call of Duty somewhere so I'm sure the franchise will come under fire just like Doom did back during the Concubine shootings.

Can't blame this on video games just like you can't blame it on the guns.  There was an unstable and untreated individual who did this. I'm sure there were signs he was about to crack.

Juan

I was in the news business during the school shootings of the 90s, and we did a lot of reporting on how safe kids were in local schools.  At the time, each school had at least one sheriff's deputy (called a school resource officer) there at all times, but he or she was unarmed.  There was a furor over that, and I think the officers now carry their arms.

One thing police pointed out was that people normally shoot someone in the body - it's a bigger target.  But since the popularity of video games, shooters go for the head - a much more lethal shot.

I remember that a number - maybe all - of the school shooters had either recently begun taking an anti-depressant or had recently stopped taking it, including the Columbine kids.  I still want to know if this guy was medicated, and think this may still be an area to explore.  However, I don't know that a law would have helped in this case.  The murderer first killed the owner of the guns, then stole the guns.

And, as for "faced with automatic weapons" - the weapons were not automatic.  The news people reporting that are idiots.

...Breggin just might have something interesting to say.

George puts together a show to deal with the horror in Connecticut.  John Lott may be right, but the wolves are at the door.  Peter Breggin tried to focus on drugs, both the street kind, and the ones prescribed by the head doctors.  He also said we were losing our morals.  Can a nation regain such a thing?  He said that when he was a kid his parents would read passages from the bible and while he didn't understand what it meant, he knew it was important.  All I read my kids is the riot act.  George also recalled his childhood: "...I had a cap gun.  I ran around with a holster and a pistol and I haven't killed anyone yet." Perhaps, George, but you're slowly strangling a once great...oh, heck, I'll let him slide.  I thought when he was a kid he was building telescopes and solving universal mysteries.  Whatever.  It's a dark day.

I agree Z. I think you nailed it. But in order for the laywers to get their 30% profit, some human error needs to be documented. Believe me, after this class action lawsuit is filed and the payout comes, the laywers and politicians will capatilize on this event.

One person went crazy and killed 26 people. In a country of 315 million, these things will and do happen.  All we need is a new law to "fix" this from never happening. Bullshit. We have laws galore passed, we have 5% of the worlds population but 25% of the worlds prison population but has that made this a safer country? No. If anything we're unsafer AFTER the bulk of the laws have passed.

When I heard the elementry school had a full time psychologist on staff it made me wonder what kind of agenda they were pushing in schools these days. Is it really necessary to have a fulltime Psychologist in a Elementry school? "Little Timmy is having a bad day... Let's send him to the psychologist to see why. Maybe his parents haven't been feeding him enough organic foods..."

School is nothing like it use to be, or will it ever be the same as it was when we were kids. I pitty the youth for having to pay for the stupidity of adults.

All I have to say about this incident is most of my family homeschools now. If you have the means or capability to homeschool, just do it. Your kids will thank you later. That's just my 2 pennys worth. BTW I'm loaded on coffee this morning. Sorry for my ranting.

Yeah I heard that too. First time I heard it they made it sound like he went in a bag of ammo and assult rifles.

It's a media pitch. Same reason they love doing live suicide standoffs and car chases. The truth doesn't grab the attention quite as well as a beefed up story.

ZombiePoppa

Obviously guns are awesome and more guns is the answer. Those kids should have been packing. When will 'Merica learn? I guess it's all those Obammy supporters who want to take your guns away even though they've never said that. Oops, just shot my penis while cleaning my gun. Shot myself in the ass yesterday at the movies. Accidentally shot my 7-year-old in the chest once, too. Yep, if only everyone were armed I'd feel safer.

This horror is such a disgrace that IMHO the entire nation of USA should take down its Christmas decorations and mourn.

I must give credit where credit is due...Thanks goes out to Ziznak.

Give yourself credit for recognizing talent.  Ziznak's photoshops of Jorch and Paper*Boy's Jorch and Tommy escapades are reason enough to come here.  At least something good has come of Jorch Noory.  Thank you, Jorch, thank you.
