George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No

Meggini

I came to this website because I hadn't listened to Coast in about 2 years (for reasons you're all familiar with). But, I still let my Streamlink subs renew for Mr. Meggini. They come in handy when you're stuck  in traffic or can't get to sleep after a long day working on a project - just little snippets of fun that you don't have to commit to.

I had turned to Audio Books and Old Time Radio shows instead.

Recently I was working on a big home project that required some brain-power so I needed to listen to something that allowed me to tune out occasionally without actually missing part of the plot. Coast to Coast fit the bill!

I picked out some shows from the past 2 years with guests I thought would be entertaining and was just shocked by how bad Noory had become. It's obvious he's not listening to the guests, but when he does it's almost worse because he interjects something idiotic. Immy pointed out one of the incidents I noticed. That was a great opportunity to ramp up the scares and George didn't just drop the ball, he punted it over the fence so no one could play. When he says things like that, you're completely taken out of the moment.

I was also shocked that over 24 months, there were so few good shows and guests. Although, I think one of the members here had it right that we could be less discerning with Art because he would make it entertaining or go to open lines which he also made entertaining. Noory is terrible with open lines. Art would get some really creative callers, because they knew Art would play along. Noory doesn't know how to play with the subject matter. He doesn't appear to be a fan.

So, yeah... it is still useful to have Coast to listen to for my project. It's just frustrating that there's so little to choose from when the show is on every. single. day... That's a lot of fail.

Back when Art hosted the show, I actually did enjoy LMH and Hoagland as guests. Not that I bought into what they were saying, but it was still fun to listen to, almost like a sci-fi show or something. The host makes all the difference I suppose.

Juan

Listening to the stream with Art interviewing Dr. Evelyn Paglini.  Art asks her what the ethics are of using magic on someone.  Would such a question ever occur to sNoory?  Of course not.

I remember that from back when. Holy crap. That was a great question and a scary response. LoL I liked her better when Art interviewed her as well.

sNoory wouldn't and that's just sad. What a waste...

Dick C. Hoaxland was good with Art. Under sNoory he has been given free range, and has gone way the fuck out there. I remember him talking to sNoory in 08 about NASA being run by Nazis... So they can return to Mars one day because that was their home base, or some such bullshit like that. I have never listened to him since. George probably followed it up by asking an important question like what he had for dinner.

Immy

Great input Meggini, I also took a sabbatical from the show for a year or so in favor of political radio but once in awhile I crave the out-of-the-ordinary, a thirst which is rarely quenched by a random C2C session.

Snorry's faults are so multi-faceted as well.

Remember how Art used to take calls from those in the paths of hurricanes? Riveting radio. What are the chances George will seize that opportunity as Sandy approaches.

Has JC called in recent memory? Art would have such fun with him while I rolled with laughter yet I don't think Snorry ever "got" him.

Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the show now is when a guest will make a provocative answer or statement and George won't follow up. You could noticeably hear Art's interest piqued. I really doubt Snorry has much capacity for intellectual curiosity.

I really like Ian, who's clearly demonstrated a good store of gray matter, and he's the master of the 5-minute question, heh. But he has an annoying habit of re-introducing his guest every 30 seconds.

Wells has proven to be a very servicable weekender and I like his New World Order conspiratorial bent, which has really blossomed of late.

Living in Vegas since '85, I've seen plenty of the Knappster and his staccato delivery gets on my nerves after awhile quite frankly.

LMH, her vocal quaver used to bug me but I've gotten used to it. Perhaps she's tried some voice exercises to minimize it. It doesn't seem as pronounced recently.

Hoagland...ugh. He's my human sleeping pill. A pretentious, monotonous, one-trick pony.

RJ

Rember the night of Sept 11, 2001 when Art only took calls from ground zero in NYC.  How about talking to the person living in the tree to save the tree. Art got the contact number to reach her from a guy named Frodo. A call in. A un-screened call in.
Norry has missed major storms and droughts throughout the USA as well as talking with the Tea Party and Occupy while in the throws of street protest. Just to name a few.
Noory has no curiosity or imagination, two componets essential to Coast to Coast or as we used to call it, The Art Bell Show.  Never heard anyone call it The George Noory Show and I never will.  Noory is totally asleep at the wheel!

I have taken several sabbaticals from C2C in the 17 years I have been listening,  and like Meggini I always end up listening again when I'm working on a project where I need mindless radio in the background while I work. The last time I came back after a few years, I realized the show had become a joke. Now I just listen for the humor value.

The c2c website has this Jack-O-Lantern carved pumpkin photo up tonight.
The head kinda reminds me of Noory.
Maybe somebody can make a Halloween Jack-O-Lantern carved pumpkin face of Noory and send it in...  ;D

...... Noory is totally asleep at the wheel!

Noory is just a shameless PremRat shill going through the motions.  Anytime he does something out of the ordinary, it's all about him and his idiocy, such as his wretched singing and sophomoric sound effects.  The clown makes a total mockery of what Art created.

I was listening to "Somewhere in Time" last night.  Even PremRat realizes that even after 10 years of Noory, they're still better off playing Art's ancient shows from the nineties rather than ANYTHING from Noory.  Art Bell's shows from the nineties are still 1000% more entertaining  than Noory's usual crapfest.

Bmassie

Double dang,my understanding is he pretended to have some sort of pet dog that he was bullshiting about similar to that hawian studio.i never herd him mention the dog at all did he just forget or had it put down?was trying to do the art bell cat thing maybe.

Juan

i only remember the dog mentions during the time sNorry had a dog food sponsor.  There are no coincidences.

Hadn't thought about that, but you're right. Noory talked a lot more about his alleged dog when Purina was a sponsor.

HorrorRetro

Noory supposedly had a dog named "Diamond" back then.  He called it "Diamond the dog."  "I went to work and Diamond the dog stayed in St. Louis."  First off, who calls their dog, _____the dog?  I have two dogs now.  I never say, Charlie the dog or Joey the dog.  Secondly, I don't believe for a second he had a real dog.  If he did, he'd have it locked up in his basement where he'd wear a white lab coat and walk around with a clipboard whilst poking it with pins or something.  He's a freak.  You can tell by all the animal and child mutilation stories he relishes.  >:(

Tara

Early in his hosting, I recall Noory saying that he once had a black lab; I only recall this because labs are my favorite canine.  It probably was another imaginary dog, made up by Noory to make himself more likable.

Morgus

A caller during open lines recently asked Noory about his dog on the air.
Noory replied that the dog is still being cared for by some old lady friend since he doesn't have time to care for the dog since he is traveling all the time between St Louis and Los Angeles...

Bmassie

Lol poor pooch, master noorys too busy traveling for his crappy shows and speaking engagements he sucks where ever he goes so i dont get all the l.a studio and st louis cave nonsense, thanks for filling me in on the dog.i also agree with the way he gets all giddy about animal and child mutilation stories in the first 10 mins of every show.

George needs to be in LA to keep the PremRat idiots properly brown-nosed, and to be around so Hollywood can 'discover' him.

But for some reason he thinks he should be around his family in St L at least part of the time.  I'm sure they're thrilled, esp since he repeatedly tells everyone his audience is his family - that must really draw them to him.

Hmmm. So his dog was given years ago to "old lady friend" (whatever that means) to take care of, and the dog is "still being cared for" by her, and apparently has never come back to George. George seems to think a dog can be put on layaway indefinitely and picked back up whenever he wants, and the dog will still consider itself to belong to George. Wrongo bongo, Mongo.

Sounds to me like we should interpret George's statement like this: "I gave my dog to an old girlfriend when we split up years ago because I didn't want to be bothered with it. I call it 'mine' every now and then for the dog people in the audience. But if I saw it today and tried to pet it, it would take my hand off."

Given George's mastery of the language and the odd way he has of  describing his personal interactions, I'm going to say she's a lady who George somehow knows that is at least 6 to 8 years or older than he is.  He probably knows she's 'old' because he's seen a couple of gray hairs.

I doubt very much the dog is real, but the lady probably is.  I think he made up the dog to mirror Art's cats, then needed someone to say he dumped the dog on.

Speaking of George and imaginary pets, he also told a story once about another 'old lady friend' - maybe the same one - whose dog had died (George was pleased to add that to the story).  Our Hero then got a puppy for her when he felt 'the time was right' and dropped it off with her.  She was of course overwhelmed with joy and they lived happily ever after.   There really is no end to the Suckage.

Considering Noory claimed he gave his dog to this old lady at least 10 years ago, the dog could be long dead now and Noory isn't even aware of that...  8)

Number lady is on halloween why!? Truly, is the buzzkill "Numbers Lady" going to be on Halloween? "Oooh, number 8, that's a scary number, Glynis."

Is George trying to destroy C2C?

Morgus

i don't see any guests listed as of yet on the c2c website schedule for Wed Ghost-To-Ghost.
but Noory will probably add some for the first hour or two like he did last year...

Noory, I think, mentioned that the Numbers Lady would be on Halloween. I'm not sure we can blame Simple George for the worthless, over-produced clusterfuck that Ghost To Ghost has become. The innumerable C2C producers decide who the guests are, and determine the format of the show.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Lisa Lyon was the executive producer during the last days of Art Bell, and G2G was still cool. All she had to do is say no to Noory.
