I sometimes forget Art is shamefully responsible for several con men, loons and marginal personalities getting traction via C2C...like Noory, Dames, Hoagland, Strieber, Lear...
Yeah, every time I hear any of these guys on, especially Lear, I reach for the off button. While I'm glad Art had an open mind when it came to, well, everything, the fact that he didn't ask these guys valid skeptical questions irks me.

Also, hearing ads for the magnetic water softener GMX makes me scratch my head and wonder if Art actually had one of these in his house, because they just don't work - total scam!

Pay me lots of money and I'll sell anything that you ask me to.

"Hey kids! Want to look like 'Jaws' from the Bond movies? Dying for that Neanderthal style, with a massive supraorbital ridge like a kielbasa under the skin running from eyebrow to eyebrow? Well George Noory can hook you up! He's got all the HGH you'll need!...."

I used to giggle everytime he mentioned improving your libido in those ads. I am very mature for my weight.

I love Art.  On the stream, he was just speaking with Ian Punnett and they were talking about that "ancient computer" that was found in a shipwreck.  Art made a joke about his Commodore 64... but then muttered, totally under his breath, "actually, it was a VIC-20."

It was charming.  I laughed.  I miss Art.

I was listening to a C2C from September 2001 and a Dish network ad said you could get a month of Satellite tv for nine dollars. Damn,I wish it was still nine dollars ;D

With Jorch's listenership dropping you will soon surpass him. ;)

I think one of the Art Bell casts dropped and may have helped drive numbers.  Fine Art is better anyway.

A couple of nights ago I was listening to one of Art's Ghosttoghost streamed shows, (not the AB stream unfortunately), which seemed like it was from around 1997. And a wonderful thing happened which highlighted the non-corporate nature of Art's show, and how he ran the show himself, even the board, from what was essentially a ham room out in the garage. It was the first half hour, and he was just talking, slowly building the anticipation. And as he was talking I heard the scratchy *click*click* of a lighter and quick intake of Art's breath. It was plain Art had just lit up a cig, no big deal. He hadn't been sloppy about it but he hadn't tried to hermetically seal the room off from all sound either. It was just so human and natural. So wonderful.

Yes, that's it right there.  I couldn't have said it better.

I once heard him take a sip of coffee. Another time I heard him say, "Thanks Hon" after Ramona presumably handed him something.

Those instances really humanised his whole set up.

George is abolutey terrified something like that would go out over the air.  Since he is incapable of doing the 'big things' (like interviewing), he specializes in the 'little things' (like sound quality)

I remember hearing her yelling to him once after he said something about her over the air. You have to love that kind of being comfortable in your own skin.

This is in hindsight. At the time, it was, as Sardondi says, great radio, which I expect is all it was intended to be. No one could take a nothing guest and turn it into an evening of deep mystery and fascination like Art, especially when you were lying there in the 2 a.m. dark, half-awake, half-asleep, which I am sure Art understood his audience to be. This is certainly one reason why, as he said, the show could never have been done during daylight hours.

Well, absolutely. It was incredible radio.

Just hearing the JC stream right now... does anyone know where I could download files of JC's calls? Would be much appreciated.  :D

I remember Art saying, "thanks hon" during the broadcasts. Those old shows were so intimate and I miss them terribly. I am so grateful to recall those live shows with real people creating "classic" radio moments.
AND Art did not have to announce we were about to hear a "classic" broadcast ahead of time like the poser at the helm of the "Mothership" (barf) these dark-days. It just WAS classic radio on a nightly basis. I am very sad right now,,again.

There have been quite a few shows where Art even spontaneously brings Ramona on the air. Hell, one time he let her mom run the show for about 15 minutes.

jazmunda

I love the shows where she shouts something from the other room or just beyond the door to refute or correct something or a story that Art was relaying on the air.

The 9-11 show was replayed last night, he handled that SO well.

I hope it gets replayed, I fell asleep...

I remember George emphatically stating right after 9-11 that C2C would not discuss any conspiracy theories about it and that he'd cut off any calls that went in that direction.

Funny how things change, isn't it?

I know I have said this a lot on this forum, but this stream is a life saver. Why would anyone still listen to Snoory? I have a horrible cold and spent all weekend sleeping on and off and listened the stream the whole time. Hats off to Linden for doing this :)

soulburner

It's probably nothing new to you guys, but I just found out the stream is available on TuneIn Radio. Excellent!

^ That. Right there ^.

Lately, I've been finding myself listening to the 'Fine Art' streamcast more often than actual live Coast to Coast AM radio broadcasts.  I listened to Art Bell back in his heyday in the 1990s whenever I had trouble falling asleep (which was quite often).  But 'Fine Art' gives me the chance to listen to all of the classic episodes that I missed.

I loved the "JC Compilation" that was played over the weekend.  Whoever does JC is a great performance artist.  Kudos to JC!
