HAHA! On the stream right now (Mar 25th 2007) a caller named tree top just said to Art that his cat falls asleep when ever Jorch is on, but stays interested when Art is on. Art said maybe the cat senses he's a cat person.

What is/was "Radio Free America"?

Radio Free America was a CIA broadcast to various communists countries of the world.   Like Radio Martie (sp) is broadcast to Cuba.

It was news of the world, music, and pro-American propaganda....

I think they stopped it sometime after the Wall fell.

I believe the Art Bell callers were referencing the Liberty Lobby radio show of the same name :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spotlight

I haven't been able to get the Fine Art Stream to play on my phone (a Galaxy SII).  I don't seem to have any trouble with the audio on any other applications.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

I seem to remember listening to Radio Free America when I was behind the Wall in Berlin back in the early 70's.

I could be wrong though....

I love some of the old news and adverts.

I also like the old news reports and advertisements.  I think, though, we're in the minority.

Try TuneIn.  I use it to listen to both the FineArt stream and Funklbaldy's stream.

Ed Dames is currently on the May 30, 1996, show with Art, scaring the world with his "remote viewing" that the world was at that moment on an irrecoverable climate and geophysical change which would destroy most of humanity, beginning with a worldwide bovine AIDS that would kill most human babies within 5-6 years. Then the jet stream would dip down to earth level and destroy surface agronomy. That was 1996. What a dildo. Ed Dames couldn't correctly predict within 24 hours of when a red light will change.

Art had Ed Dames on for the same reason we watch horror films: not for believable information, but for sheer scary entertainment.

I agree but I sometimes think that Art actually thought he was the real deal. Art admits that Dames is loved to be hated by the listeners but often thinks that he has magical powers because he "predicted" a shot across the bow from the sun. Well I can talk about a bird shitting on my head everyday for years and eventually one will take a deuce and hit me on the noggin. Or it might be close and fall at my feet like it did last week and all of a sudden I am the father of remote viewing.

I just want to say thanks for running the stream! It is my main source of entertainment at work. There are so many shows I haven't heard, and I have been listening to Art for a long time. Keep up the good work! :)

Does your screen name reference "The Outsiders" ?  If so, good choice.

It sure does. I am a writer, and the "The Outsiders" is one of my favorite books. Thanks for the compliment. Also, it's nice to find a forum of like minded people who all love Art. I can't listen to what the show has become, it's a disgrace.

Hi.  I'd love to read a sample of your writing.  Anyone else a writer here?  Please share excerpts if you wish.  It would be great to read the work of talent that resides in CoastGab.  Teasers...abstracts...synopses... doesn't have to be about C2C.  I'll start a new thread.  Look for "A sample of my writing".

Regarding the let's write a novel thread, I missed that because I am fairly new here, but sounds fun. I graduated as an English major, doing mostly creative writing.

As far as listening to Art, I did the same thing with the stream when I read about Art possibly coming back. I think if you grew up with Art, or discovered him later, you tend to remember that time fondly. I used to work 2-11:30pm, and I listened most nights because I wasn't tired. Reminds me of the good ole days :)

So many great shows lately. I have to say though, Art was grating my nerves during his interview with Michael Schirmer. Considering the outright frauds that Art regularly interviewed, the way he treated Schirmer was... well I don't know the word for it. Art kept cutting him off and making snide comments and chortles while Schirmer spoke, and it irritated me. Ah well, riveting radio either way.

The interview this morning with Craig Winn was soooo good. Never heard of him before, and now I wanna read his books  ;D

How do you compare that to the media in the US? Which I believe you are not a fan of.

I particularly enjoyed Art's build-up when Dames was a guest. Hide the children, turn off the radio if you're a scaredy cat etc. Brilliant radio.

I sometimes forget Art is shamefully responsible for several con men, loons and marginal personalities getting traction via C2C...like Noory, Dames, Hoagland, Strieber, Lear...

I was thinking that earlier today.  He gave Hoagland a platform, and Tricky Dicky would probably be nowhere near as well known if it weren't for that.  And would we have his flailing shitbag pseudo-progeny Mike Bara writing goofy books were it not for C2C?  I doubt it.
