Art once asked, "Have you seen the video of Stevie Nicks dancing?" I think this is the footage he was referring to at the time.

With Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie.

Great song! How could you not love the incorporation of a string quartet into a modern rock combo?! It's like Jeff Lynne heard what George Martin did on Sgt. Pepper and said, "Yes! That's it! Let's do that for every single song, God dammit!" It's funny though, Jeff Lynne is so hairy in this vid that he almost looks like a muppet  :D

I thought since we were on a Fleetwood Mac kick there I'd drop this Lindsey video that I've always though was pretty neat. While some of the video effects may be quaint by today's standard I think the intended psychedelic effect is achieved, for the most part (some scenes better than others) but the overall theme is pretty cool and interesting. I once heard a really beautiful slower version of it with lush harmonies from what sounded like Fleetwood Mac on the show Northern Exposure but I've never been able to find the audio of it or even a You Tube video, for that matter. I thought it should fit right in here at Bellgab  ;) :

Thanks.  And LOL on the hair.  He and his buddy, Roy Wood, were duking it out for the title of biggest hair.   You are exactly right about Lynne, Martin and The Beatles. I think the key Beatles songs that most influenced ELO were A Day In The Life and I Am The Walrus.  Showdown adds a bit of Marvin Gaye's I Heard It Through The Grapevine as well.  Brilliant indeed.

Great tune. Buckingham is also one of my favorites.  I have most of his solo stuff.  His guitar work is very intricate.

Another Fleetwood Mac related song.  Lindsey sings backup and a little guitar.  One of Petty's best singles, IMHO.

Notice the twin towers at the end.  Rather ominous foreshadowing of later events but a great song nonetheless.

Indeed! I've always admired his guitar playing. He has a great picking hand, usually the weaker of the two for most guitarist, IMHO. Here's a demonstration of that where he has the delay set just right to give it a great layered effect with the slapback:

you're already dead

I'm sorry man.  What I said about your other name was funny but cruel.  I apologize.

This is a better sounding version of the Petty song that I played.  Buckingham arranged the vocals and on the fadeout you hear an homage to the California sound of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys.

While I'm talking about the California sound, here is another song from the same Petty album with Carl Wilson adding his background vocals shortly before he died.  Ringo on drums.

I'm a Badu fan and I approve this cover.  :)

Now if I could just find some rock bands covering Jill Scott or Anthony Hamilton  ;)

Excellent one.  Here is a cut from Out Of The Cradle that I enjoy.

I've heard this song before but never knew that. Now that you point it out it so obvious that it's him on all the backgrounds and harmonies. I thought I might've even heard Stevie but it could've just been a female voice.

I have the record and I think she is in fact on the song as well. Maybe Mick Fleetwood too----on drums, of course.

Something to play by your bedside as you drift off to sleep.

Also, coincidentally (though we know there are none  ;)) and I really didn't know this but it's called DW Suite because it was written as a tribute to Dennis Wilson, who had just died at that point. Like Steven Wright says, "It's a small world...but I still wouldn't want to have to paint it."  ;)

Speaking of Fleetwood, If you ever come across the cd, Peacemaker, by Jerry Lynn Williams, grab it... He called in some favors from a few artists he wrote songs for to help him out on his own CD.... Worth the listen...
