America has much to be proud of. This lady is up there in the top ten. If this doesn't move you, you have no soul.

Hell yeah. I've never seen her solo at a piano.

Jeff Lynn tells a touching story about Roy Orbison and the rest of the group. George Harrison and Bob Dylan (I wonder what happened to those two?) watched Orbison in concert in the US..and went back stage afterwards and asked if they could speak to him in his dressing room. The gracious and humble Roy said of course; they went in, sat down and like two star struck teenage boys asked him tentatively to join the Travelling Willburys. Now, that is the mark of a performer who has earned respect.

I agree. I bought Kraftwerk Autobahn in 1975. Still an awesome LP.

Thats a wonderful treat from the past. Perfectly illustrating how both the minimoog and the mellotron can complement a symphony orchestra.

First decent snow of the year!  Pot of freshly roasted yirgacheffe, huge pipe full of C&D's Plantation Evening, I'm set.  The neighbors have kept their Christmas lights lit, too.

Let's do some alternative music:
First alternative song I ever heard. It was on a high school station.

Ok, here is a good one.   Written by film actor, Preston Foster, for Ann Cole who later played the tune for Muddy Waters when they were touring together.  I give you

Man, Preston was one cool cat.  Who da thunk some Hollywood actor who starred in The Last Days Of Pompeii in 1935 could write something like this?  Turned out he had a second career in music along with his wife, Sheila (who happened to be one very hot enchilada).  Check her out in Cecil B. DeMille's film, Union Pacific, as a prostitute working for a villainous Brian Donlevy.  I fell in lust with her when I saw that.
