Well, gosh.  I usually turn Ian off and try to listen to the old Art Bell shows.  No luck for the last few days.  Guess the server is overloaded?
just keep trying to connect.  you'll eventually get through.  there are 150 available listener slots.  someone is always dropping off.

George Knapp for me, particularly when he has a decent ufology guest.

I vote for Knapp.
I hated Punnett when he first started, but then I got used to him and even stood up for him when someone put him down because it seemed to me that he really did his homework and many times had even read the book that the guest is pushing.
I'm back to not liking Ian anymore, and don't listen to him.  He stammers and stutters until I want to hit him in the mouth and he is UNfunny and tries too hard with his stupid "jokes".

So, my vote goes to Knapp. Sure I think Ian beats him in intellect, but Knapp possesses the overall qualities that Coast needs:
- A "sincere" interest in the topics (did Noory EVER really have an interest?)
- Good overal radio personality (Noory has a good personality for a kids' show)
- Excellent voice

I chose Knapp for the reasons listed by Knye Guy. I might add that he knows how to subtly handle callers and guests who go off the deep end. He also knows how to participate in conversations without dominating them. Syrett would be my second choice.

I chose anyone but George.

I don't enjoy Ian as much as I did; he doesn't let the guests answer.

George Knapp is good but it's all UFO all the time it seems.

I wonder whatever became of Mike Siegal (sp?).

Yes, we actually have No One as a host right now.  George is basically there to introduce the next hard break.

it's painful to say, but i agree.  even when art does host, it's got a different feel.  i don't get excited about it at all.

I have to admit that it's not the same, but I still do get excited to hear any Art broadcast, somewhere in time included...

I didn't make it in time, but George Noory is first, followed by George Knapp.  Art and Ian are dead last.

Hi, MV.  I have heard a lot of them in replay.  Whenever I tried listening to Art first run, he would say something that would insult a guest or caller or give his own opinion like it was the only one that counted, so I stopped listening to him.  Even now, no matter the guest, I usually don't listen to Art.  (Sorry, Art.)

i always had the feeling art was probably a bit of an asshole in person, but i think he's probably the best interviewer i've ever heard, and he knows how to deliver a radio show better than perhaps anyone else i've heard other than rush.

He is a good interviewer, but that isn't enough.

You seem like you would be better at it than he is.  You are fair and I like that.

I also would rather listen to Ian on weekdays.

starrmtn001 my friend I don't believe that you prefer Punnet over Knapp, just for that I will stop sending you shows. lol

He was clueless about the paranormal nature of the topics of C2C.  His daytime show is purely political and he's good at that.

yeah, it really felt like they shoe horned him into art's chair.

Blahhhhh.  Siegle was the one that actually jumped the shark IMO, and totally killed the show for me.

The only one I would find pleasant to listen to is Ian.
Sometimes maybe not, depending on choice of guests & music.

But I haven't got to listen to Ian for a long time, unfortunately.

I am assuming that you're talking about current hosts, exclusive of Art.

I love George Knapp and feel that if Art never came back, he could easily take over the show though he tends to be way too serious.

I enjoyed Art's puckish sense of humor.

Punnett turned me cold and I got tired of his continual shows on missing people, DB Cooper and rock music. If he wanted to find something that was missing he could have done a show on Snoory's missing charisma.

I didn't care for Mike, hated Barbara Simpson on KSFO & Coast and haven't listened to the new paranormal guy.

Oh, I forgot one. Back in the olden days of KFWB " Boss radio " Hilly Rose used to do a lot of paranormal and UFO stuff. I remember him for that but somehow can't remember how much of it he did on C2C.

And you KNOW how I feel about Snoory, the Great Pretender and offender of the King's ( and Queen's ) English ...

By the way, did Snoory ever allow Hoagland to actually host an entire show like he was supposed to ? They had a bet and if Snoory lost, Hoagland was supposed to host the show for the night. I don't recall if that ever happened.

If people object to MY replying to comments about me in here, I'm sorry but I feel it would be a bit disjointed to send it over to the political section.

I will admit to not knowing the posting protocols of this board because I'm unaware of the unwritten rules of the board and don't recall quite where the written rules may be at the moment.

And as for quotes, I have NO idea what MV is talking about. Of late, when I post, I have to double click on send to get it to post at all and sometimes it sends me to the profile section when I post or when I click on reply, don't ask me why ?

Also, when I do post, it seems to sit there for an inordinate amount of time and either they get posted or they go off into the ether or a portal or Snoory's cave, I dunno.

If posts are supposed to fit neatly in some pre defined box then please let me know. The last thing I want to do is irritate anyone.

Really.

As for the Pittsburgh alumni thread, I'd rather have gone to Pitt than the place where Noory graduated from. At least Pitt has a reputation for graduating people of prominence, his college seems to graduate mostly liberal arts majors.

I could be wrong but ...

Actually the last entry was less than two weeks before Art's final episode on 10/31/10.

Well, if we're talking about current hosts I'd have to say the Napster. But if we were talking about best all time, I think I speak for everybody by voting for the Great Bell.
