It is certainly curious, does "Red Eye" now see itself as the heir to C2C?

Somebody needs to break the news to Ross that his move was lateral at best.

He's likely just supporting his new employer.  And now Coast is a target; it's become weak since it no longer has any personality or a definitive host.

Anything not Noory seems like a step in the right direction.  Not that I'm going to listen to Red Eye either.

Ross was fortunate to work elsewhere and not be tied too closely to Coast.  With the team effort in ruining the show, working for the industry laughingstock, I'm not sure anyone else on George's staff could or should be able to find another job in radio again.

I was going to suggest this guy to replace ross mitchell, but I don't want to delay the inevitable demise of C2CAM.

HEY INTERNET: DON'T FUK WITH ME!

Not to bring up old stuff, but this cracked me the fuck up. I watched it like four times.  ;D "This place be ballin' yo, chicken mcnuggets be crispy like you've never seen."  ;D ;D ;D

And man, I tuned in the other night for a few minutes in the car and the new announcer just makes the show sound so generic. I can't believe Mitchell is gone.  >:( Fuck C2C, the only vestige remaining of the show I once loved is the name and the opening theme.

Juan

Last night George, in reading his list of thank yous, included Ross Mitchell.  He had been leaving him out.  I wonder what that means? Probably just that sNoory is an idiot.

Morgus

Noory often ends up using some old crib notes, he has done that before. :o

Falkie2013

I was wondering.

On the few nights I listen to Snoory or the other George, the guy giving the phone numbers now sounds so wimpy and wussy.

Did the deep voiced guy get fired or die ?

Never did know his name.

Ross Mitchell

The station where he worked was no longer an affiliate.  Check Internet commentary.

Ross Mitchell. Now the voice of Red Eye Radio...a lateral move if there ever was one. Like swimming from the Titanic to the Lusitania.

worse - he defected to a competing network...  8)

Ross is a local morning personality here on KKOH-FM Reno.  This station recently dumped C2C for some reason...

Juan

Actually, the station where Ross works is now owned by Cumulus and Red Eye Radio is a Cumulus product.  It's not surprising that Cumulus would want him on their own show.  I hope he got a fat contract out of them.

The two guys doing the Coast shows now are the regular Cheap Channel voice over guys.  I played some of their cuts for a friend who is a professional voice over talent.  His reaction was that they were just reading the script and putting no feeling or emotion into the read.  Very unprofessional, but typical Cheap Channel mediocrity - just like sNoory

Actually, I recall that a pretty smart guy had the explanation back in April:

Apparently it wasn't Ross' decision.
It was reported yesterday that the longtime C2C affiliate Reno radio station that Ross Mitchell has worked at for many years dropped C2C recently in favor of a competing program.
The station therefore didn't want their employee (Ross) working as an announcer on the side for their new competition any longer.
So Ross hasn't "retired" he just continues his main announcer work at the Reno station and doesn't do the side job of recording audio for C2C anymore.

So Ross paid for the "sins" of the radio station which employed him. I think C2C now uses 2 announcers with baritone voices to replace the legendary foundation-shaking basso-profundo thunder of Ross Mitchell, so I'm sure in some as-yet-unquantifiable way the listeners are, uh, coming out ahead. Right?

But I'm sure we all agree that the most important thing about Ross's terror-sacking is that at least now the bosses at PremRad and its successors have proven that they will not put up with the least shadow of disloyalty...or competition. Because all that crapola about "competition is the life-blood of our economic system", and "competition results in benefits to the consumer" is just a bunch of happy horseshit the corporate types sell to the 4H-clubbers. Because the last thing suits want is actual competition - they want to have a monopoly.

Of course no company wants competition - competition sucks, they have to work to provide a certain level of service, they have to hold costs and prices down, do more with less.  People in the workforce are going to be paid less than they want or their employer will find someone else.

But as a consumer it sure is nice to have more than one choice, it's nice to have competition for our dollars, anything from more than one choice of vehicle to buy or lease, or more than one brand of bread to buy.  I'd rather have dozens of cafes to choose from than just one great big restaurant everyone had to go to when eating out (see school cafeteria or airplane food.  Notice how expensive ballpark food is).

This is just one reason why socialism doesn't work, why the government can't do things as well as the private sector (with the exception of policing, court system, roads, military, stuff like that) - the govt offers no choice - we are forced to take their product made lousy due to lack of competition.  Just compare the lines at the DMV to the lines at McDonalds.

Despite what sounds like the usual anti-capitalist screed, my contempt is aimed at those capitalists-of-convenience who for the appearance of their companies' short-term health sold out as wards of the government. These weren't capitalists but corporatists, who pretended they were capitalists when it paid. But then Obama throttled the markets, and, in a scheme the brazenness and corruption of which was unmatched in modern political history, began shamelessly buying corporate support by the discretionary funneling of unimaginable sums of "stimulus" money to his favorites. The free money pipeline was turned on wide open to those corporatists who were already or would become shills for Obama and his plan for a control economy.

But have no fear: these same cronies who have looted the nation of close to 2,000 Billion dollars (well, those who will not have already taken a few hundred extra million dollars in chump change out of what was left over from their stimulus bribe, and pulled the golden ripcord) will return to the fold within a few months. Just as soon as the looters-in-chief are thrown out of the counting house and it looks like there will be no more wide-open free money giveaways, the corporatists will revert to form. They''ll be standing in front of flags, with their American flag lapel buttons, and they'll be leading "Tributes to the Troops", and preaching competition and self-reliance to high-schoolers. Just as soon as the markets are unleashed in January next year the corporatists will pretend to be capitalists again. It's a wonder the very stones don't cry out.

In a society that believed it was worthy of survival, the corporatists who gorged on the stimulus bribes would be dragged from their homes to be tarred and feathered in the public square.

Juan

There are a lot of reasons to bring back tar and feathers.  Lots and lots.

Does anyone remember when Ross Mitchell filled in as the host on C2C?  I remember it vaguely, he did keep with the shows paranormal theme if I remember correctly and he did a very good job. Shamrock

If you go to the C2C website www.coasttocoastam.com and do a search for "Ross Mitchell," you can find the shows he hosted.
