Art Bell Bumper Music

Started by MV/Liberace!, January 24, 2009, 02:28:13 AM

The General

Anyone have a master list for Art's bumper music?
This list should be easily 150 songs.

Or better yet, anyone know of a zip file out there?

The General

^I guess not^

I'm working on compiling a master list and will post it here shortly along with a youtube playlist.

He plays the intro to Silly Love Songs and it sounds soooooo much like the illusive "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)".  That would have been so random vibe-wise.

I love the way Art is using whatever music he wants.  There was a lot of worry here about who gets what songs.  GN playing many of Art's old favs picked up before DM aired.  So annoying.  It was sort of like a land grab.
When DM aired, Art played whatever he wanted, including the C2C songs.  Way to go.  I don't know what GN does now.  Don't listen anymore.  I found better programming with better sound quality on satellite.

Thanks.  My wife thinks I'm nuts.
I spent a lot of time on this.
That you tube playlist is a beautiful thing.

And getting caught singing the first few syllables was pretty funny.

I don't think you're nuts. I just think it was a waste of time. You could have used those 7 hours to sit around and stare into space.

But think of it as invested time, now I can sit around and stare into space while listening to the youtube playlist I created.

Hey General,

Little Ballerina Blue - George Fischoff

(I know you remember this one)

The Oh Of Pleasure - Ray Lynch

I know it's the dreamland theme, but he has used it as bumper on Coast in the past as well.

Speaking of which, did everyone else catch him using The Chase as bumper music in the middle of the show the other night?

Back in the CBC days, he also played the tracks Flying Condor, Pastorale, Andes and Fighting Inca from the "Cusco- Apurimac" album

Edit: Another Cusco track, "Pahrump - Big Water" off of the "Apurimac III" album

Edit: Also "Inca Bridges" from Apurimac I

Edit: "What a Wonderful World" - Louis Armstrong

Edit: "Harden My Heart" - Quarter Flash

Edit: "(Tell Me Sweet) Little Lies" - Fleetwood Mac

Edit: "Can't Find My Way Home" - Steve Winwood

Edit: "Don't Bring Me Down" - ELO

Did anyone notice the caller who asked about the phase shifted version of Ride My Seesaw?

I always had a suspicion that Art was running bumpers through some sort of modulation. Everyone tries to tell me "it's because he was on AM and it just sounds like that." Bullshit! On occasion, he MUST have run his bumpers through some sort of phaser or flanger or something.

I distinctly remember hearing him playing ELO's "Livin' Thing" and noticing that there was WAY more modulation happening than on the album.

He made a big deal about doing it when he started.  He has some big fun with it.

Night Ride Across the Caucasus - Loreena Mckennitt

Aquarius - Fifth Dimension

SWEET!
You're the man, Guild.

Does anyone remember Art ever using Steve Winwood's "Valerie" or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

edit:
Also, I think there's a few Rolling Stones songs like Sympathy for the Devil and Time is on my Side

Might be wishful thinking. It's a great song, but I can't recall Art(or Noory) using it. I looked at the website and "While You See A Chance" seemed to have 25-30 instances, couldn't detect "Valerie".

Ah, another great one that I overlooked.
I'm getting river blindness or some shit looking at all these lists online.
Did Art ever use Enigma's "Song of Innocence" or "Sadness" that anyone can remember?
My mind won't work anymore.  I think I have to stop compiling these once I hit 200.

HOLY CRAP - I thought I was fan lol - You guys all put me to shame! - I could only name about 10-15 songs from the bumper music - and That's just the main re-used ones mainly - But now that I see this list, I'm like "OH YEAH, I REMEMBER THAT!"  - Either way, crazy stuff keep up the great work!

I'm really excited to augment my music collection with help from this list. I've had a collection going for a while but this list is probably the most complete available, right? Maybe ever?

Yes, and with your help and others, I'm bringing it up to nearly 200 songs! I'll post my revised list soon, and there will possibly be an accompanying zip file posted by another Gabber with all 200 songs...

I missed some real obvious ones, like ABBA's SOS!!  Doh!

No sweat, I'll be adding more songs soon.

Makes it so much more enjoyable.
