Man... I want to do acid with some North Koreans.

there was a time when i would have said the same thing.  these days, however, i'd just like to offer them a sandwich and a book.

I've literally spent the last several hours watching every North Korean documentary on YouTube... that place and it's people are so fucked that the only way to bring them in the modern world is to start dropping LSD like napalm on that entire country. Man I seriously want to go there though, that place is just insanity.

Have you seen this BBC video from N Korea?

a TRIP and A HALF.

Back when I was DXing shortwave radio heavily (15 yrs ago) I got a big package from Radio Pyongyong (sp?). Among other things, an LP of creepy patriotic songs. I'll have to upload it to youtube.

I might have their QSL in this group but I may not have scanned it yet

Didn't hate, but did wonder how Fritz and also Dean from Grapevine Texas could always get through to talk to Art, like every night.

Never mind. The GIS say they're going to be on with Art on October 29th.

I have asked them to appear on my podcast. I hope they'll accept. I'm a big fan of theirs.

YAY! I'm really happy to read that thank you.

IMO it changed after the Hale Bopp / Heaven's Gate fiasco a bit too.

When posing this question, Richard Hoagland's name comes to mind first. No idea why but he seems like the type of guy who would do it.

I heard Art say once on the air that he was a freemason.  Don't know if he was serious or not.  But so what if he is?  So was George Washington.  So was my Grandfather.  It's actually a really cool organization.  They let anyone who asks and passes a few 'tests' join.

And I hope I'm not going to hell for doubting Dr. Reed.  haha.

Actually it is  "They let anyone who asks and passes a few 'tests' join... AS LONG AS THEY AREN'T A WOMAN."

agree! Knapp shouldv'e been the sucessor to bell. but, noory pulled a fast one, which he admitted one time on the air. but, he wouldn't elaborate. i prefer punnet over noory too.

I must have missed that utterance. Do you care to elaborate on what George Noory said?

Noory started selling "Classic J.C. tapes" and having J.C. calling in at appointed times while sounding like reading a script with him. Fucking broke my heart to hear such a hilarious character whored out like that. Like a magician selling how he did your favorite trick as a kid.
yet more evidence of the fact that noory is OWNED by the network.  they wanted someone for the purpose of keeping a chair warm while doing whatever he's told do. snoors is their man.  i had no idea they'd started marketing JC discs and setting up staged calls.  quite sad to see a previously spontaneous facet of the show become ham handed and deliberate like that.

sincerely,
edna pringle

hahaha

I, too, loved JC. It was the best when he would really make Art Bell laugh.

You couldn't help but laugh/smile yourself.

Can't say I've had that experience with the Georges or even Ian.

Sean David Morton is an ass. Pure and simple. Idiotic predictions and every time he comes on he has something else to hawk as far as new-age medicine. I haven't heard him in awhile, though

He may have had a mini stroke / transient ischemic attack.

What is funny to me about that clip is George's chipper, "Exactly!!" at the end of the gibberish.

Classic.

LOL I'm gonna listen for that one and add "Feb" and "geesh/geeze!" to the list. Geesh, is it that hard to pronounce the second month of the year? Does the radio announcer say "libe" for "library" too?

Noory Voice: "Geeze, I had six overdue libe books in Feb."

Geez is a Michigan dialect thingy. It's short for geez-o-pete.
(Really.)

I chose anyone but George.

I don't enjoy Ian as much as I did; he doesn't let the guests answer.

George Knapp is good but it's all UFO all the time it seems.

I wonder whatever became of Mike Siegal (sp?).

hahaha

There was an exchange with the recent "Generations" guest that made me laugh.

(paraphrasing)

The guest was talking about Gen X  and how they had a rough time growing up. He mentioned movies like Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, The Omen etc and George gleefully interjected "I love those movies!" and the guest proceeded to explain that they were good examples the harsh zeitgeist re: children and childhood during that time.

And I didn't hear George say anything for a while after that LOL.

Right now, the upcoming schedule lists tonight's guests and tomorrow's. That's it, and seems to be a pattern.

Do you think they have difficulty getting guests nowadays?

i think the best era of radio (at least in my 30 year lifetime) was in the late 90s.  rush was still fresh and exciting, art was at the top of his game, and phil hendrie was still interested in making people laugh.  people were still allowed to say offensive things on the radio, and it wasn't yet as consolidated as it is today.  radio was just better.

and the x files was on TV. And no reality TV. I don't even watch TV anymore.
