If one "escapes" the Matrix, where then does one go?

Escaping the Matrix is a common theme, used often in SciFi and other futuristic scenarios to illustrate the struggle of the individual vs the collective.  Threats such as, "you'll never survive on your own" are widely employed by control freaks everywhere--from totalitarian regimes to an abusive spouse. 
(see origin of the word:  1325-75; Middle English matris, matrix < Latin mātrix female animal kept for breeding (Late Latin: register, orig. of such beasts), parent stem (of plants), derivative of māter mother)

That was an excellent, thought-provoking show!  Worth a 2nd listen tomorrow.

This is a new Bell classic. Maybe my favorite MITD to date.

agreed. Based on personal experience I've long suspected something along these lines. I went from Buddhism to Advaitan Vedanta (non-dualism) to eventually arrive at a perspective much akin to what this guest describes.
