NASA's EM drive

Started by Original Larry, November 09, 2015, 12:28:18 PM

The recent announcement by NASA that they are experimenting with EM drive is confusing me. I thought it was common knowledge that both the B2 bomber and the F117A both use hybrid propulsion systems with a conventional engine to take off and reach altitude, but also use an EM drive system once at altitude. Am I wrong?         I'd like to know. Just search B2 bomber propulsion and see what comes up.

No, you are confusing the EM drive with a MHD drive that has yet to be tried on aircraft as a propulsion system, the B2 uses an electronic system to increase and alter air flow, not for propulsion, which works kind of like the dyson fans that do not use any moving parts to move air. The F-117 and the B-2 are conventionally powered with turbofans and are subsonic. They do not use a hybrid propulsion, the B-2 does use a special system to move air for heat signature reduction. I get a kick out of reading all the false data on the net about the B-2, especially the anti gravity system that it does not have.   The difference between the EM drive is it would work in a vacuum. The MHD would not.

Thank you USSGOBLIN, that's what I was looking for, somebody who knows WTF they are talking about. And a respectful thank you for your service.
