Woo Nation with Ric Flair

Started by HorrorReporter, July 12, 2015, 04:48:25 AM

I absolutely love this show.. anyone else experience it yet?
Flair is somewhat coherent, enough at least to enjoy the banter about old style 80s and 90s wrestling.
Very entertaining stories..
And quite a life wrestlers have had..

Great show and I agree that Flair is relatively coherent and hilarious. I enjoyed the episode with Mean Gene. Wrestling back in the day was great and the stories and partying they all did. Classic stuff.

Meme Gene was great. Drinks in every city and hotel in the United States

Wooooooooooooo!

I've been looking forward to this since Ric mentioned it on Steve Austin's podcast awhile back. I imagine a half drunk Ric Flair bitching about marriage and talking about Wahoo McDaniel. I cannot wait to listen. Flair is the one of the most entertaining men of the last 100 years.

I grew up around St Louis watching Wresting at the Chase...Ric mentioned Sam Muchnik, one of the original promoters in the beginning back in the 1940's...Ric knows about everything there is to know of the wrestling world...super entertaining show...

Great show and love the stories of the old days before the consolidation of the industry (pretty much) into the WWF/WWE. And Ric is so right about "social media" (and I would add "political correctness") changing the sport (and other sports.) People today have to be so "careful" about having fun, going out drinking, womanizing, etc. (And the ability for the person, or others, to record things on their phones, internet, etc.) And their managers and leagues have so many more rules and don't want anything "bad" to come down due to advertisers and media attention.

I heard Flair tell the story that John Cena isn't even allowed to go to a bar after matches

Taz's The Human Podcast Machine has become my favorite wrestling podcast. Wooo Nation and Steve Austin's show(s) not far behind.

Ric has had some great guests so far.

Oh my god, this may be my new favorite podcast. Chefist recommended it to me a bunch and I finally got to it. Ric Flair is the coolest man in history and he's hilarious on this podcast. I could listen to Flair bitch about how they won't let him drink on air and his ex-wives forever. His co-host kind of sucks but this podcast is awesome! Also this podcast probably has my favorite opening ever. Woo Nation is now up there with Stone Cold as can't miss listens each week.

LOL you are right VQ! I can see why he was so successful in Pro Wrestling...the man can TALK!  ;D

Flair is so fucking fun man. He had to have been like top five men in history to party with. I've heard most of the stories on his podcast before having pirated shoot interviews right along with Art Bell since high school.  ;D But listening to Flair be Flair is just awesome. The man has absolutely no filters and after listening to two episodes, I've heard more real dirt on Woo Nation! than probably a year of listening to other podcasts. Ric Flair is to professional wrestling as Jimi Hendrix is to rock and roll.

The people have to be creative as well! I know they have a general theme for their characters but the majority is ad libbed! That is hard as hell to do well!

I keep meaning to give this a try. So many podcasts these days it's hard to keep up, but I do need one to replace the sadly missed Piper's Pit. I loved Piper as he was so insane and while he repeated himself a lot, his heart was definitely in the right place. Flair was always my favourite back in the day alongside Macho in the WWF.

"It’s so hard for me to sit back here in this studio, looking at a guy out here, hollering my name!â€"When last year I spent more money, on spilled liquor, in bars from one side of this world to the other, than you made! You’re talking to the Rolex wearing, diamond ring wearing, kiss stealing, WOO! wheelin dealin’, limousine riding, jet flying son of a gun and I’m having a hard time holding these alligators down!”
