Callers' last name restriction?

Why did Art go so ballistic and blank it out with the delay when a caller gave their last name? Is it an FCC restriction or law of some sort? Just seemed weird to me and I can't think of a reason why he was so anal about it.

I've always wondered that myself. I thought I heard Art once say that if you give out your full name along with your location then someone could look you up.

In any event I like it when that happens only to hear, "Do the wild thing on ....."

Also Art must have super hearing because I could never hear the callers radios being on.

As for the radio being on - Art surely wore headphones so was able to hear better than most of us.

But the last name and location deal and looking a caller up ... guess that would be possible but ... did Art fear lunatics would stalk his callers? Or maybe the men in black?  :o

Maybe has something to do with liability for the network and host rather than concern about callers' safety.

I've heard the callers radio on in the background on other shows, don't recall whether I ever did on C2C.

But hearing it wasn't the problem.  Since the show was on delay, callers would get confused and listen to Art on their radio instead of Art on the phone - and it would throw off their responses to him.

OTOH - it seems as if Snoory listens to the delay instead of the guests and callers.
