Using PM/IM to promote a business?

I person here sent me a PM telling me to go to a certain website of theirs about some kind of doomed earth thingy.  I replied, why on earth would I go to a strange site someone solicites me on a PM, which is borderline spam as it is.  How can I know if the site has a virus or whatever?  He got mad and accused me of having a god complex.  WTF?  Should I report this person for this?  Using a forum to promote a business seems like an abuse of the website and is spam, and potentially dangerous.  Anyone else here get a message from this individual?  And how does my not trusting a spammer stranger make me a god complex person?  My therapist says I have the opposite problem, I don't think well enough about myself.

If it was just a pm I would just delete it. But letting MV know seems reasonable as well.
