Favorite Art Bell Read Ad

There were so any over the years from C Crane Radios to Human Growth Hormones to Water Filters to Absolutely Fresh Flowers.

What was your favorite Art Bell read advertisement?

I always enjoyed Art talking about libido so I'll have to go with HGH.

As an aside did you ever buy anything he was selling? And did you buy because he was selling it?

I bought the crank-powered radio with a light. This was in 1998 or 99, I think.

The light sucked and the signal reception sucked without an antenna (sold separately). On the bright side, I still have it and it still works, so, hard to complain.

The light sucked to the point it was largely unusuable though, and I've lost it. Ironically, it was Art saying... "with a light!!!" that really got my attention. Then it arrived in the mail and I was like... oh. Thanks, Chief.

I suppose the light would have been enough if there were absolutely no other light sources available but this thing was not as bright as a candle. Thinking back, I can't really create a candle by turning a crank, now can I? So I guess it was a great buy!

I liked his Dark Matter commercials for the C. Crane FM rebroadcaster, and his admonition to not attach an antenna longer than 30-inches.

Or not to go online and learn how to take a screwdriver to it...

Another one of those Great American Products.  The closest I got to that was getting a CCrane catalog.

I always liked the one that went something like "There's a bill in the US Senate to get rid of the greenback and replace it with two types multi-coloured money: One for foreign and the other for domestic use," and you could call and get a copy of the bill and then invest in gold.

There was another amusing one for people to invest in a cellphone company with a minimum investment of over $8000.

Hah, I remember the cell phone one. "The next big thing!"

I bought the C Crane Pillow Speaker. I am happy with it.

I bought the Baygen handcrank radio w/light and add on antennae. It was pretty much my favorite possession until it died many hard working years later.

I had an illegal who used to work for me that I said the same thing about.

Mine still works, cept the external LED light fell apart. My other one broke when I cranked it the wrong way. Whoops!
