Art Bell Quits Dark Matter

We were very fortunate that Art called in to Gabcast. For me it tied up the loose ends on the Sirius show and brought some closure to this chapter of Art's broadcasting career. That Gabcast show should be a part of every Art Bell archive.

Did I miss something here? Was Art supposed to return to the Dark Matter Radio Network in January 2014? Why all the sad and sorry bullshit? (no one in particular, it's all over this board)

Keith wouldn't be putting all the time and effort into the Dark Matter Network if Art wasn't planning to return. When he does return there will be A PLACE for him to return. We need to support the Dark Matter Network. hang out there. Stream the shows. Click the ads. We wait.

Did anyone really listen to Art on Gabcast? He loves and misses radio. He doesn't need the money. He doesn't want to answer to corporate assholes. He could do a Dark Matter Podcast as a hobby and it would be successful. AS A HOBBY!!! It will be so much better than CtoC and no pressure on Art. Need a night off, Art? Give us a replay. No problem. Three shows a week? We're just glad you're back!

Once Art has his own library of podcast shows the Dark Matter Network could go on indefinitely. Subscription fee to stream old shows? CtoC does it. Why not Art?

How about saving the bitching and moaning for 2015 if Art doesn't come back. I say he will be back. In the meantime support the Dark Matter Network.

Art is NOT coming back ever in any semblance of what he once was. If he thinks the calls were weak before, try again on a podcast. He may come back, but will soon quit one last time. Sirius was the perfect place for Art.

I hope you are right, but many of us have been through this so many times before, that it is hard for us to garner any real excitement for a future with Art.  I started listening to him in the mid-90s and recall the real disappointment I went through with his multiple retirements.  I know it sounds pathetic, but I really did feel a sense of loss with each one, until his retiring became a running joke.  To have him quit again after a 1-month stint is, on the one hand, heartbreaking, and on the other hand, insulting and infuriating.  I am now firmly in the doubting Thomas camp i.e., I will believe it when I see it.
