Dark City not on Fridays anymore? :o :o :o

Yeaahh, about that...

Subscribers are getting first crack at new shows now. DMDN, Deep Talk & radio stations will play it at various times over the weekend. No network or radio station gets prioritized anymore - subscribers do. And if I do a live Sunday show at some point, it'll air on Deep Talk.

"VIP" members would pay $5 a month for high quality (256 or 320 kbps) ad-free podcasts before they air and access to the archives.
$8 "Elite" members would get the same plus bonus material.

Thoughts?

All of that sounds decent, but from my point of view, talk show podcasts don't need the high bit rate to be quality. I don't need to hear your parakeet fart. Make it $4.99 and $7.99.

I like the ad free part. I guess I will need to listen to the old shows to figure out where to buy new underwear.

I would offer a 1 year bundle for a slight discount. And a credit card option instead of just paypal.

The 1 year bundle gets you some up front capital, but that assumes YOU are willing to commit to a year.

I hope you do well. I haven't listened to all of your episodes, but the ones I have picked based on my interests have been really good.

And you need a small storefront for some DarkCity bling. And a newsletter.

And pizza.

Just kidding about the newsletter.

Maybe follow Dan Carlin's model on the bonus material.   I think he charges like $1.99 for each bonus topic but it's an ala cart kind of a deal.  If you like the show on XYZ
for a fee you can get the bonus.

It's more for the music, really. It sounds great in headphones.

Credit card option will be available, yes.

I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. It's been going for over 2 years, albeit more intermittently than I would've liked. I know people must be feeling skittish about their favorite show's longevity considering the last several weeks though...  ::)

I can do a subscriber newsletter. "The Week in Woo" by George Senda? Nevermind, he'll want a cut.

I would hope so considering how much you badger me for new ones, you pain in the ass.  ;)

Interesting structure, but it kinda seems like nickel & diming to me.

New episodes will go up for a week or 2, something like that, then into the archive.

Heh, they'll continue to air on DMDN, Deep Talk, radio stations and the free version of the podcast for as long as I have them posted on SoundCloud. Just no ads for subscribers.

I would like to hear that. Just once. Just to see what it sounds like

Sounds good! The high-bitrate isn't as important to me, but there is an appeal to nice-sounding bumpers.

At that price point I think most would expect a weekly show. It's actually quite a big commitment. However, it sounds like you're putting things into place which would help streamline the production (including pre- and post-) process.

Elite members need to get a monthly recording of bird flatulence, btw.  :)

Saw this earlier tonight. I... I think I need a TV show next.

People have suggested this podcast as a must listen to and an alternative to Shit to Shit AM and the new Midcrap in the Desert. Is there somewhere I can sample this?

I always just search up Dark Weekend. Before Warner went all Hollywood he was known as Dark Weekend...he used to put out shows back then instead of relying on his back episodes...used to be pretty good.

There were some... interesting developments over the weekend. I can say with certitude there will be a live show either this weekend or next at the latest.

This is all fine and dandy Steve but how regular will the shows be? Once a month? Every three weeks?

I love your podcast and the way you interview guests but you are awful at putting out a regular product. Not a knock, just sayin'.

Chine

Steve!

You fucking rock. Last night I finally got caught up on your shows. Listened to the episode with Marrs and also the show with Dr. Liebert (criminal mind / psychology etc is one of my fav topics) That was something else. Found myself googling and reading up further after that show.

Such great work. Thanks for a quality show. Hubby and the dog listened as well. Hubby thoroughly enjoyed it too. I am going to look through your archives to check on more that I may have missed. I tweeted you and check your pms.

P.S. Hi to the Gemini cats. Heh heh.

But the dog thought it sucked? I'm reading between the lines there.
