McGriff/Fox Show (including John Mack death)

Uncle Duke

Just got a chance to listen to this show this afternoon, was extremely disappointed.  McGriff was good, and the material he presented on his just-in-time website was extraordinary.

Fox is an idiot.  The only guest worse than Fox since Art's return was that kid out in Nevada talking about the UFO crash.  His stream of consciousness narrative approach is nearly impossible to listen to, if not incomprehensible.  Also got a chuckle out of his use of Tony McPeak as a source on the issue of Roswell documents.  USAF vets who served under McPeak will understand.

I was really disheartened by Art's belief that John Mack was murdered.  I understand it's hard to accept the senseless death of a friend and colleague, I've been there.  What was distressing was Art's insistence was the guy was not stupid enough to get run over without "looking both ways" while crossing a street in the UK.  It's not a question of looking both ways, it's which direction do you look first.  In the US we look left, in the UK the traffic is coming from the other direction.  As a psychiatrist, Dr Mack would have been aware of the problems created by classical conditioning and continuation of training.  Doesn't mean he was immune to them.

I've traveled to many countries (UK, Ireland, South Africa, Isle of Man, Japan, Jamaica, Kenya, etc) where they drive on the "wrong side of the road".  As a DoD employee, I was required to get a country specific travel safety/security brief before going anywhere outside the US, whether it was for business or pleasure.  The first subject covered in a brief on any nation where they drive on the left side of the road was always "crossing the road".  Why?  Because of the large number of Americans who get killed/injuried looking the wrong way before crossing the street.  More non-local people get hurt/killed that way than by street crime in those nations.

The driver who killed Mack was arrested, tied, and convicted of both drunk driving and Mack's death.  There were witnesses to the accident, and the driver was arrested at the scene.  Not sure if Art thinks the driver was a mind-control victim programmed to kill Mack or if he thinks the driver was part of the plot.  Either way, it's sad a bright guy like Art can't accept his friends death for what it almost certainly was, a tragic accident.

Yes, I agree this was interesting to me as well.  John Mack was leaving the subway at around 11:00 at night following a T E Lawrence Society meeting walking to a friend's home, where he was to spend the night and was killed by a drunk driver.  There was little inherent mystery, of which  I am aware.  Mack's family agreed with the official report.   European and South American cities are notoriously tricky for Americans traffic wise.  South Africa has its own hazards ( nimble little spider monkeys getting into one's luggage etc.).  Mack was 74 at the time I believe.  I really cannot see this as anything more than a sad traffic accident.

I've seen it happen with tourists from the UK here in Florida.  They look the wrong way first, and step into traffic.  Everyone should be required to drive on the correct (right) side of the road.

I tend to agree for a variety of reasons. Then again I think we should have converted to the metric system.
