Dark Matter Format

So it seems that the shows are now going to be 4 hrs instead of 3. What format would you prefer to see for Dark Matter. Obviously it might depend on the guest or the subject matter or even how well a particular interview is going.

Here are the choices:

* Guest for 3 hrs and then guest/topic open lines
* 1st hour random open lines and then guest for 2 to 3 hrs including guest open lines
* Guest for 3 hrs (may include guest open lines) and then random open lines.

There are more permutations but you get the gist. As I said before it will often depend on how a particular interview is going but what is your preference?

I just want Art to do whatever he wants to do every night.

If he want's to chase a guest like RCH around for 4 hours, I'm game for it.

If he wants to talk to some unprepared 20-something with a bad cell connection and a box of arts parts that he is reluctant to give up for testing, I'm game for it.

He has been on 7 nights.  Why are we asking him to change things?  I'm just happy to hear him back

INDEED - I like the show already how it is - just the audio fidelity is enough for me!  I'll come here to bad mouth the guests - but I'm not about to second guess Art's choice in how to run his show!

I'm not second guessing Art. Over the years Art has run the show in a number of formats. Just wanted to see what other peoples preferred formats are. Having random open lines first gives the audience a chance to shoot the shit with Art.

Im glad I can listen to his show ONLINE!!! -- I think XM/Sirius audio quality sucks!!!! (Listening to it thru the radio itself (Car radio, etc))

Wintermute

Audio -

I'll tell you what, my SiriusXM app stream sounds pretty good. I can't complain. I am using an old Andriod phone connected to Wifi -> preamp -> studio monitors.

When it does sound quirky, it is the guest and whatever the hell they are speaking through.

Format -

Too early to tell. I will say that night #1 with Kaku was not all the pleasant. Just too big of a knowledge gap for Art to bridge. Tough guest out of the gate. But things are getting much better already.

Morgus

I like Art to do unpredictable shows, unlike the rigid format that Noory uses.

stenjay

Three hours of open lines ("I just saw a dinosaur" line only), 15 minutes of guest interview, then 45 minutes of open mic style standup/cooking tips from AB himself.  Every day.  Let's get really weird with it.

George Drooly

He should do an MST3000-style riff on an episode of George's C2CAM.

Spinner

It doesn't matter to me what the format is, as long as Art is at the mic and the topic is interesting.

SR-71

Open lines is good. More open lines.
