That's Phil at his best. He hasn't done a live "comb over boy" in ages(that I know of)...it's like his C2C bits. Brutally funny.

Those were the days.  I tried listening to Phil over the past few months, but I've mostly given up.  It seems it's mostly Margaret Gray; Bobbie Dooley, who I love; and some new mid-western female character.  I can't remember her name.  It's not even close to the level of quality it used to be. It seems he mostly likes to rant about current events and his own occupational problems.  I miss the days of The General; Vernon Dozier; the "sessual" guy, can't remember his name right now; and Lloyd Bonafide.

Chris Norton brings the "sess" appeal to the show. But you're absolutely right about Phil nowadays, I actually think some of those classic characters he abandoned are gone because he's lost some of his vocal range(not to mention creativity) those burgers/cigs and booze plus turning 60 ain't a good combo. I love when he gets bitter about his career, it's a rare bit of honesty in that biz...but when he drones on about politics or history, it's a trainwreck. Two subjects I love, but in his hands it's a disaster.

Yes!  Chris Norton is the sessy guy.  I have all the vintage Hendrie C2C parodies.  I would like to get the old Chris Norton appearances.  Oh, I totally forgot to mention Ted's of Beverly Hills.  He was a pretty good character.  He still does Ted but, again, it's mostly related to current affairs.

Ted is best utilized when he's kissing the ass of some Z-list celebrity while ignoring/dismissing the general public at his establishment. It's probably a bit of projection on Phil's part, but still really funny. The last few times I heard Phil "do" Chris Norton, he seemed to lose interest and kill the bit early on. Doug Dangger could be good too, especially to unsuspecting callers who hear "as a gay man, and as a gay journalist" repeated endlessly.

Leykis may be many things, but I'm pretty sure gay isn't one of them.
Up to $40 for a date? Used to be $30. Inflation, I guess.
He was assaulted outside a dive bar near Seattle Center a few years ago, evidently by somebody for whom his advice didnt work.
Hendrie definitely had Leykis down. Leykis must hate him. One night Hendrie satirized Leykis by complaining how annoying it is when your mother won't have sex with you, made him sound totally depraved and demented.
I have dated a lot of guys who subscribe to his ideas. He didnt invent them. One if his ideas that really bothers me is the one about women being "dream-killers". Maybe a lot if modern women are, but some of us were brought up to be supportive of a mans ambitions. Whenever some guy is accepting an award, a politician wins an election or something, he makes a speech thanking my lovely wife, etc. Why is that?
BTW, Leykis is very left-leaning politically.

I need to correct myself. The assault happened Aug. 2004, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the person was angry because Leykis was mean to him when he called the show. But of course that's his schtick.
Leykis puts me in mind of the character Tom Cruise played in the movie Magnolia, though I think that guy was patterned after some other self-help guru.  Billy Bob Thornton also played one in a movie whose name I can't remember. A few years ago one of these spree killers who shot up a health club was a disciple if one of these guys. It's too bad. Some people are unlucky in love, others have to beat pursuers off with a stick. Not an excuse for becoming a spree killer, of course.
