noory has done similar things in the past. I think Lonevoice can explain it much better than I can. But, as I remember it, noory visited two forums prior to GNS.com. There he was able to sew enough seeds of contempt that the forums died. He tried that here, but MV couldn't be bought.

Either way, in addition to any business calculation, the allegedly bad move was prompted by my newfound indifference resulting from the events of five weeks ago... events over which I had no control. I wasn't about to dedicate my life to containing the predictable onslaught that followed around here. I could have set up a few moderators, but I think plenty of people have opinions on the wisdom of that business move.

These couple of guys just aren't worth the potential losses they represent.

I agree entirely with your single moderator model as do I with your low-intervention methods. That's gold. Makes for a great board, which Bellgab is. I've enjoyed it for years now with the add-blocker soundly turned off. But there comes a time where you have to ask what's going to get more page views; Art Bell posting, if even just melting down, or a couple of assholes going too far that will get bored and disappear after the train wreck is over. Not a lot of long term value there.

As to indifference, I can sympathize. Nothing has been done to stem the slide towards indifference and negativity. His threatening to sue you has made me indifferent. It didn't need to go that way. In that, you have my support. It was yet another stupid move on Art's part in a long series of stupid moves over the last month.
