Yeah, but doesn't that apply to all the ammendments?  The right to bear arms being mangled because a couple of whackos with guns shoot up a few gun free zones?  The freedom of religion being mangled because it's exclusive of Muslim kids during December? The rights protecting against unlawful search and siezure just because of that plume of pot smoke coming out when the cops come a' knocking? And we musn't forget how the 5th ammendment being constantly abused by mimes?

I forgot where I was going with this, but the main point is, fuck mimes...

Honestly bro, if I had a company hitting the rocks so bad that people were sent home. This site would be the last thing on my mind. Much less Art Bell flaking out yet again, or everyone having a shit fit about it.

Can't say all of them, offhand, but definitely some. None of our rights are absolute and if enough people are irresponsible enough, often enough, in how they behave and exercise those rights, the reaction can put those rights at risk. With rights come responsibilities.

And yeah, we do have some free speech absolutists on this site who probably wouldn't understand where their philosophy could lead. And then there are a bunch of very bright people. You impress me as one of them.

I pray for the day when humanity evolves to be self-governing.  I follow a very old rule above almost all others, "An it harm none, do what ye will." It stems from the Wiccan Rede.  I don't confine myself to any one religious dogma doctrine. There is still some sage wisdom to be gathered there.  Sage wisdom in the Bible too, but my karma ran over my dogma a long, long time ago.

But I digress... I will take these strange derivations away from the Art Bell thread. It is true that this thread has taken on a life of it's own, and should be aborted, or perhaps locked into read-only mode by MV

Cya all in the MITD with Heather threads, and elsewhere.  Just because 90% of my postings have been in this thread doesn't mean I can't expand/expound beyond my conditioning...

BTW, I'm a guy. But like most in my generation, a generation raised by there mothers, I'm sure that there are plenty of less manly virtues that the preceding generation had.

Even if that were  true, I fail to see how it is relevant.  If I were somebody who believed that St. Art could do no wrong, then it makes sense that I would continue here hoping for a little crumb of validation having Art post.  If I were somebody who posted over and over that I was done with Art, it would follow that I would probably leave (or at least stop posting that I were done with him and move onto other threads as there are lots here that have nothing to do with the man who you are "done with.")

Either way, I really hope that somebody with a modicum of success will post here.  Heather, RCH, Art or even Dave.  I really just need to know that I am still relevant by posting on a site when one of these infallible demigods drops in to provide me with validation...

Nowhere is my "right" to say that Art Bell is a man without flaws and a saint guaranteed to be met without criticism.  Nowhere is my "right" to question Art's decisions or truthfulness guaranteed to be met without criticism.  You still have free speech to question the words of others and make whatever statement you wish- but others have the same right.

As to our grandparents... Whatever happened to civility (genuine or feigned?)  I would argue that people feigned civility in many instances.  However, if you want to return to that time, I demand you call me "sir", laugh at my shitty jokes, smile when I speak with you, act with manners and be courteous at all times.  In addition, if you are under 18, I would remind you that children are meant to be seen and not heard.

Or, we can live in today's world where you still have free speech, and I will defend to the death your right to hold whatever opinion you wish, but will still continue to tell you what I think of those opinions.


Riiight. You just made my point by rewording it. Kudos. I was talking about the veiled threats to DP's family someone made just because the dude looked up a video anyone can find in a five second google search and posted it.

I really don't think you grasp what a RIGHT is, as you seem to be confusing it with PRIVILEGE... You and your friend may not be as bright as you believe.
