I am tired of looking past the message with this guy. Art did great radio a few years back and I miss that... but one too many carrots on one too many sticks for me to get my hopes up.
Yep. I'm over it too.

Some years back, Art said he would probably bring his website back as a HAM Radio website - so thats probably all he wants it for, to go with his HAM radio hobby.

He also said he would never do a podcast, if I'm not mistaken.

thats correct, Art said he loves only broadcast radio, and would never do only internet or satellite programs.

Hmm... maybe prism shook something loose. Art got sumthin' to say?

Art has itchy feet. He's a born talker. Unless he gets his own corner at the bar, it's got to come out somehow.

C2C and Ground Zero Radio are both leaving XM in August. This was confirmed on Ground Zero's website by Lewis. :O

That leaves a hole to be filled.  Maybe Mr. Bell is being drawn into this hole by the allure of contract?

Or, maybe Premiere said they were sorry, and Art with great incentive, is going to fill Ian's spot one Sunday a month.

I'd like to believe something such as that but I'm thinking it's more likely C2C and Ground Zero are leaving XM because they leave something to be desired.  The sad thing is they'll probably be replaced with something even worse.  :P

7 hour hole 7 days a week. Take a strong man with a strong cat to fill that hole

man.  i don't know why you guys continue torturing yourselves.

by the way... the "art quits" and "art bell" threads have now been merged.  i'm sick of this bullshit requirement that we hop between two threads to read redundant posts every time art breaks a nail.

this is the art bell thread.

XM radio is dropping C2C?
Am I reading this right?

LOL. Because it's like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer. It feels so good when you stop, unless you are Snooron and can't figure out that hammers hurt, like hot pizza rolls burn.

haha, indeed.
Art broke another nail today, we have to report on it in seven different threads and twenty forums plus facebook and twitter.  ;D

I think even Art's segments lost something when he gave up control of the program and went to being a part time host.  I would rather he just didn't bother becoming a member of the Coast Zoo Crew as a weekender.

You know, Ed Dames predicted Art would break a nail just before his Second Coming....

Even if he did come back, and thats a big if, and he wont, I doubt it would live up to everyone's expectations. I really don't care anymore. Tired of thinking about the future plans of some retired guy in the desert.

One thing I always respected about Art was his open-mindedness and concern for civil liberties.

I have to wonder if the recent disclosures regarding the NSA will spur the return of Art - maybe not as a daily show - maybe not as regular podcast -  but as a website with stories and an occasional podcast.

Art has always been passionate about what he believes in and I  believe that he's much more passionate about the creepy government intrusion into our lives than the current state of CTC. I recall all the shows about "Predator" during the Clinton era. Art was really ticked off.

If there's going to inspire Art to return it's not the frustration related to George and the show - it's our government's monitoring our everyday lives.

I don't know what you all think - but to me this is the quintessential Art - concern about Libertarian principles: the free exchange of new ideas without government intervention nor intervention.

I always enjoyed and found intriguing all the guests and ideas that were presented on his show. But at its foundations was a fundamental respect for the free expression of ideas.

To be honest in this day and age I have to wonder if this is possible. Will the IRS monitor my posts on this site? Will the government monitor my posts on Facebook?

To be honest I'm more concerned about what our government is doing - the IRS and the NSA - and more than ever we need someone like Art Bell.

On the night of Wednesday, Aug 9, 1995 one of the local college stations predominated by hippies were in a state of mourning over the death of Jerry Garcia( leading to that new Ben and Jerry's flavor...Bury Garcia :-[ )

The most requested song that night?  "He's Gone" . Art ain't dead, but...he's gone(from C2C) and probably from radio. It sucks...but...

It's something to do, and I'm bored quite a lot...

And you have to admit Art doing a new show would be like bamboo under Jorch's nails (speaking of nails).

I seriously doubt something like that's gonna stop the Great Bell's return to the airwaves. If anything, it should inspire him MORE to wanna make a comeback! In the end, I think it's all gonna come down to money. What company would hire him and what kinda contract could he work out between them that would be fair and potentially keep him on the air (in whatever capacity be it daily/weekly/podcast/etc.) for a long period of time. It'll be a business decision, plain and simple.

Whatever Art did, I'd probably listen to it- even if it was Asian Cat Fancier After Dark.  He has a marvelous ability to draw out the kooky in people.  Especially at night.  The only times I couldn't bear to listen to an Art Bell broadcast all the way through was when he'd have some repetitive gasbag like Richard Hoagland on.

The slow movement of things does suck.  The mixed signals.  I haven't settled on a non-Art host I like, which makes it more difficult to drop all hope of Art returning.

You can't have a show hosted out of an studio in Los Angeles, produced by suits in Los Angeles, who know nothing about a show that was built by a guy from his garage in the high desert, and expect it to maintain any of the organic qualities that made the Art Bell show the classic it was. It will take a new person to start a new pirate radio type show to achieve the same quality and atmosphere Art achieved.

Couldn't Art Bell make a fairly decent amount of money if he started a blog and had ads on it?  Instead of posting his thoughts on Facebook, Just start a blog and put them up there.  It would require minimal effort, and since there are still lots of people who care about him and his opinions, he'd have no trouble getting traffic to the site.  Plus I'm sure people would repost and retweet him, so he'd grow his audience exponentially.

We really do need him to talk about issues like civil liberties, because right now the loudest voice in the room is Alex Jones, and that's not good for America.

i know art wants to spend time with his family but he could do a show once a week?

Yes. I'm getting that too.

I also noted the little alien icon. Can't wait for the return of Art Bell to the real internet.

Will Art's new web site have animated gifs, blinking text and cats?
