Art Bell probably did have the network screen all calls at some point.

"At some point" could mean anything.   But before he went to Phils, Art was pretty clearly taking any and all calls.   He did sometimes "screen" by talking to callers during commercial breaks before putting them on in the following segment.   That was rare and apparently happened only with guests that Art didn't want to bug with too much extraneous crap.

As for Noory: yes, his crew does screen, and they do it to only put on the dumbest callers to try to make Noory look good by comparison.   Art got some weirdos on the phone, but also a lot of fairly interesting people.   In the Noory era, a lot of the "interesting people" won't call, and if they do, they don't get on.

George lies a lot. He needs a team of people to keep him on his toes.
I bet they talk about things they can do to boost their ratings. Most likely thats how the Fake JC was conjured up.
Lately though, his attempts are making the show interesting have made things worse. He's become a desperate man.

2013 could easily be the last year of C2C, as the ratings and memberships dive, and his new show is DOA.

Atleast, that's my opinion on the matter.

That, and the fact that George with his decades of broadcast experience couldn't handle JC.

Well you know he had a rough period when his son had problems and he was getting paranoid. I wouldn't blame him if he told the network to screen all calls for a period of time.

You are right.
I have read that questions got so bad that he did that-- particularly when the twisted story came out (immediately with the son thing) that Art was a molester... you are correct.
But that was just a little period -- certainly not justification for Noory to think he is in any way similar to Art in terms of radio chutzpah.

as long as there is a grain of truth it's fine right?

I would LOVE unscreened open lines but it will never happen with Snorge. It would be far too easy to confuse or embarrass him.

Snorge: Next up, east of the Rockies. Go ahead, Crabby.

Me: Hi, Snorge. Some online haters --me included -- think you're an idiot who never pays attention to what guests or callers are saying. Could you prove the haters wrong by spelling "IQ"?

Snorge: So true.

Me: Thanks, Snorge.

CLASSIC!!!

I like punctuation.

Capitalization is good, too!  Obvious troll is trolling.

Does the word "open" really still apply if the calls are screened now?

I haven't listened for quite some time. But when it was C2C, Open lines were managed by a conversationalist/interviewer. Now the lackluster c2c, uses open lined to fill dead air with a dimwit  unable to explore any subject past it's surface. So more open lines, now, would be similar to "let's increase the boundaries of the septic system."

if you find your way to the 'George Noory sucks'  thread and make an observation of the general consensus, you will find that most people want less Jorch, not more. It makes little difference if he takes open line calls, or interviews guests, he is horrible in either capacity.

I never understood the appeal of open lines.  Back when Art was doing the show and it was actually intelligent (imagine that now), when he would run out of questions callers would sometimes have good ones to ask.  Other times - maybe in the first hour - callers would have a good story or experience, and Art would tease the useful part of it out of the caller.  So open lines were fine, but never my favorite part - I'd usually turn it off and go to sleep after awhile instead of listening.

But the idea that a handful of the millions listening getting through meant the show was somehow interactive, I never felt that.

Now, with George, open lines are just one more thing he doesn't have the talent to do and one more thing he he doesn't put any effort into.

Juging from the conversation, most of you folks don't care much for Mr Noory, So why do you even listen to the program?  Art was ok if not a bit pompis. George is George . If you don't like him start listining to some of the thousands of other paranormal programs available?
